We’re gearing up to send our oldest kiddo to Kindergarten this week. How do we already have a kid in school? We met Scarlett’s teacher yesterday and visited her classroom. I can tell she’s a little nervous but she’s excited too. So far we are meeting onsite so we’ve been on the lookout for affordable and stylish clothes.

We’ve been blessed by grandparents sending back to school clothes and goodies in the mail, but I’ve been finding super cute outfits at our local Walmart too! I’m so impressed with @walmart clothing selection for kids and adults lately. If you need some last minute outfits there is still a great selection!

Here’s my new rug (a birthday gift to myself 🤣) and I LOVE it! I was concerned about it being too small for this space, but I think it’s going to work. It may look like it’s going to be hard to keep clean, but this @orianrugs is an indoor/outdoor rug and can be cleaned outside with a water hose or pressure washer! I’m a huge believer in loving where you live and not settling for something you hate just because you have little kids at home. Almost all of my decor and furniture decisions are made with that in mind. Most of the pieces I buy are machine washable or easy to clean. I’m not a stickler about food in our living room or drinks on the couch... because I am just not wired that way. YOLO. 😂

☆Maternity Loungewear Favs☆

I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite comfy maternity items I’m loving during this pregnancy. Most of these pieces aren’t technically “maternity” but they are stretchy and comfy and can be worn postpartum too. Swipe through to see 2 comfy looks. 🤰🏼

I also found the BEST bralettes ever last week. I’m not modeling those for you, this is a family friendly space. 😂 I’ve been looking for a comfortable bralette that didn’t have lace on the cups, since most of the time they would show through the front of my clothing with weird seams. The search is over! I found the perfect hybrid! It’s a stretchy nylon material with seamless cups and cute lace detail in the back. I’m hoping to use them for nursing too. I’ll check back in a few months on that. 😉

☆ My Top 5 Nursery Must Haves ☆
I was thinking back to the time when we were preparing for our first baby. I was so stressed and nervous I wouldn’t have what we needed in our nursery when the baby was born. Also I might add, when we were expecting our first babe we lived in a 600sq ft apartment and didn’t have a ton of space anyway. So I thought I’d share my top 5 items that really followed us from our apartment and the 2 homes we’ve lived in since.

#1. White Noise Machine - We have one of these in all the bedrooms of our house, even in our master bedroom. 😂 They block out sounds of creaky floors, cars driving by, dogs barking, etc. I think they help our kids stay asleep and relax too!

#2. Diaper Genie - I may catch some flack for this one, but I’ve absolutely loved our diaper genie! I like that there is a designated pail for the stinky diapers and it really does a good job of containing the smell. I found mine 2nd hand on Facebook Marketplace for around $10.

#3. Wiper Warmer - I know this item sounds “extra ridiculous “ 🤣 but I’ve seriously loved this thing! It provides easy access to the wipes and also comes with a caddy to store diapers, creams, clippers, etc on the changing table.

#4. Changing Pad - Since we lived in such a small space we used a tall dresser to double as a changing table so we’ve used this changing pad on top ever since. Even when we moved and had more room, it was the most practical option for us. The pad has a strap underneath that you drill into the back of the dresser so it doesn’t slip off. You can buy cute covers for it too to match your color scheme.

#5 Blackout/Room Darkening Curtains - These curtains are seriously a life saver! Having a dark room helps babies (and adults) stay asleep.

So there you have it! My top 5 nursery must haves. I know they aren’t glamorous items or magazine worthy, but you can select neutral colors for all of these items so they aren’t “IN YOUR FACE” ... ♡ 14 Weeks ♡

I’ve never been a “bump date” kind of girl with any of my pregnancies. However, I’m pretty sure this will be our last baby, so I think it’ll be fun to do this time around. I’ve been very nauseous and getting sick quite frequently, but I’ve noticed it happens more often when I haven’t eaten in awhile. So now I have an excuse to eat every hour on the hour right? 😂

I’ve been following my pregnancy progress on the @whattoexpect baby app. Instead of doing the regular baby is the size of (insert fruit and veggie) I opted for a more relatable version... 80’s and 90’s nostalgia. 🤣 So this week our baby is the size of a Hubba Bubba bubble tape or about 3 1/2 inches.

At 14 weeks babies can use facial muscles and squint and make chewing and sucking movements. Baby’s hands and feet are active and fingernails and toenails are forming. It’s crazy how something so small is doing such big things in the womb!

For obvious reasons all of my fun projects and decorating have been on the back burner. I’m hoping to get a second wind soon so I can share some fun DIY’s here again.

Happy Friday people! If you need me today I’ll be kicked back on the couch like a lazy sloth. Date night at J Alexander’s was a success and I needed wheeled out of the restaurant in a wheel chair. I ate to my hearts content, which included an appetizer, a main course and a decadent dessert. These decisions ultimately ended in a very uncomfortable food coma. However, I regret nothing and I have leftovers in the fridge. 🤣

All the dishes are clean! I repeat... all the dishes are clean! This is how I look for a split second when every cup, bowl, fork or spoon has a home. Then someone gets hungry and it’s all downhill from there and the farm sink starts accumulating dishes again.

I will say, I LOVE my sink. It’s a single basin, which I wasn’t used to before, but it’s so roomy. I can fit an entire high chair tray in that beast. Momma’s can I get an amen? I didn’t know how I’d feel about not having the sink split into 2 basins, but after having this one for almost 2 years I am still loving it.

It’s made of fireclay and has been very durable for us. Our sink takes a beating daily and the kids throw their dishes in there in a disorderly fashion. 🤣 This particular sink comes with a metal grill that sits in the bottom of the basin to prevent any dishes from slamming down onto it directly. So far no chips, cracks or scratches. Winning!

This is what happens when you’re 33 and go down the slip-n-slide 5 or 6 times. I was barely out there and my body is creaking and sore. If you need some entertainment, head to my stories to see.

The kids had so much fun playing on it and it was only $15 at Target! I’d chalk yesterday up as a win.

I hope y’all had a great holiday weekend and had time to rest and recharge. I hope the rain goes away today so we (I mean the kids) can continue to play outside and run amock.

I feel like I should have been in the Toby Keith music video “I Ain’t as Good as I Once Was.”🤣 So I’ll be chillin on the porch so I don’t break a hip.

The face you make when you remember it’s a 3 day weekend! To be honest, I don’t know if my posse even knows the difference in weekdays and weekends at this stage of life. Everyday is a fun day to them. Oh to be young and carefree again!

Grandma is still here until the end of this week, so I am predicting lots of water hose shenanigans, playdoh and games! I had fun playing with Scarlett’s hair this weekend. I’ve been testing out some amateur mermaid hair braiding skills and I’m kind of digging it. (Swipe to see)

I’m out of bed and among the living today! I’m so thankful I had a full day of rest to recoup from whatever that mess was that hit me. 😷 Anyway, I don’t think I’ve shared my kitchen/dining room from this angle before. When I was combing through pictures this was the only one I could find. More real life messes and stuff strewn about everywhere. Don’t judge me. 🤣

My kiddos love snacking at the island and I love the bar stools from @walmart online! They come in a set of 2 for around $70. The stools are wooden and very sturdy. They’ve taken a beating and some of the paint has chipped, but I plan on spraying them with my paint sprayer when they get really bad. 🤪 They also double as little side tables for drinks when we sit in the living room, and then they easily get pushed back. I love multipurpose stuff on the cheap!

Guys I wish I was making this up... see my pretty rug here? It had tons of water dumped on it on Sunday by my beautiful children. My husband told me what they did, but I had no idea the extent of what would happen. After I emerged from my cave on Mother’s Day, I walked through the living room and noticed the rug wasn’t wet... it was sopping wet. Squishy, rain puddle wet. I laid towels down to soak up everything and turned the fan on. By the end of the day I thought everything was fine.

WRONG!

Today I noticed a horrible smell and my rug was rippling up and wouldn’t lay flat. 😭 It’s rainy today so I can’t let it air dry outside, so it’s currently lounging in our office.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m so sad. This is my favorite rug from @unique.loom and I don’t want to say goodbye. 💔

Hey guys! Happy Thursday. Did you catch my stories yesterday? Count it... we watched Frozen 2 three times. I know Karen - too much TV is bad for development or that’s lazy parenting, well you know what? My kids are wild and crazy and have imaginations... like playing tea party with water, from where I won’t say.

I had a moment of weakness and got angry and ate a few pop tarts to soothe myself. Oh well, a sugary snack is better than alcohol any day for me. I used to have a bad habit of unwinding from a hard day with kids to a glass of wine... and then another, and another. I had to come to terms that I can’t have just one drink, so I’ve had to give it up. I can honestly say most days I don’t miss drinking. I still have cravings but I am protective of situations I put myself in, especially if I’m extra stressed. It’s a big hurdle I’ve wanted to jump over for awhile, so it feels good to overcome it.

How do you deal with stress? Do you eat junk food and cry like me? 🍫😭

Good morning! How are y’all doing? I feel pretty proud of myself. If you caught my stories last night, I fixed our bathroom sink! The drain plug thingy wasn’t functioning at full capacity and kept taking FORRRR-EV-ERRRR to drain (name that movie)...

I consulted YouTube because that’s what the cool kids do these days, and I found a pretty basic tutorial on how to remove “it”. I was shocked! I’ve been so reserved about anything under the sink, and here I am defeating the plugged drain head on! I’m eventually going to replace “the thing” that has no official name in my mind sometime soon, but that time is not now.

Are you guys handy? Am I late to the plumbing game? I feel like I could install a vanity or something right now! Ok maybe not yet. Have a lovely day and I’ll see you later.

We had a low key weekend. I did some rage cleaning on Saturday and downloaded over 5,000 photos off of my phone to an external hard drive. Holy cow it took forever. It’s up for interpretation.

It’s FRI-YAY! We made it people! Last night I had a fun Mom’s Night Out dinner with a small circle of friends at a restaurant open at limited capacity. It was defiantly different than anything I’ve experienced before. All the servers had gloves and masks on and there were maybe 5 tables being occupied. The workers were very pleasant and attentive and I was so grateful for them and their positive attitudes during the time we are in right now.

I know some people may frown upon going out and gathering with people so soon, and that is ok. We made the decision based on our group and what we were comfortable with.

It was so wonderful to see my friends faces and laugh and talk in person. We’ve been staying in touch through Zoom and Marco Polo, but it just isn’t the same. I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll y’all back here on Monday. ❤️

Happy Thursday friends! This week we stumbled across a YouTube channel created by @sarabeautycorner ... the video was on DIY makeup hacks. So what did we do? We tried them out!

We started out soaking nontoxic colored pencils in warm water. Then Scarlett, my beauty expert, gave me a psychedelic nail polish treatment. Scarlett loves all things girly. Makeup, dresses, hair... just like me. She put up a sign on our bathroom door for new clients to come in and get made over. My son, Beau, has been a frequent visitor, but mostly because he wants to make a mess with the pencils. Willa enjoys doing anything her siblings are doing, so she happily subjects herself to makeovers too.

It’s fun seeing what your kids are into when they’re little. You never know if they’ll be into makeup, dinosaurs or arts and crafts. I love seeing their little personalities form and finding out what gets them excited.

REALITY CHECK: Does anyone want to guess how many days this laundry pile sat in a basket before I folded and put it away? 🤣 The winner gets a virtual high five from me! ✋🏻 I have no problems throwing clothes in the washer and dryer, but putting stuff away is a total drag. I’m finding myself neglecting my domestic responsibilities during this quarantine. However, I always neglect them so not much has changed now that I think about it. Keeping up the laundry for a family of 5 is daunting. I can’t imagine y’all that have more kids than me and in sports and have to wash dirty uniforms. 😱

Are you guys on top of your adult duties or are you a slacker like me? 🤣

Happy Monday - if there is such a thing.☺️ My couch is all cleaned up and ready for another month or so. I really can’t recommend slipcovered couches enough. Even if you don’t get a white couch, I like the option to wash any cushion covers. I’ve never had a couch like this before and I can honestly say it’s the cleanest couch I’ve ever had. In the past I’ve had couches where I seldom vacuumed and only moved the cushions if there was a spill, only to find a small colony of goldfish crackers and Cheerios crushed underneath. I tried leather, it was practical but not comfortable. Hot and sticky in the summer and not cozy in the winter.

If you’re on the fence about what couch will best serve your family, I would highly encourage one that can be washed! I love the fresh laundry smell too, it ups the cozy factor! I’ve saved the washing routine to my highlights if you missed it last week. Take care and I’ll see you later. ❤️ Steph

Good morning everyone! I was having trouble deciding what to share with you guys this week. This quarantine and uncertainty has put a damper on my creativity. I’ve had lots of time to reflect on what the purpose of this blog is.

Originally I started this page to document our home renovation journey and decorating as the rooms came together. Then I found myself pressured to post and put rooms together quickly. Well news flash: this momma don’t have no job that pays, and we is on a budget. 🤣 I felt guilty if I didn’t have anything home related to share - silly right? Then I had my mental breakdown. Then COVID hit. Now we’re here.

During this time I’m feeling led to focus on more than just home decor in this space. What do I know? What am I good at? What is hard? I know my faith and family are important. I’m good at finding humor in the difficult times and making fun of myself in general. Motherhood and mental illness is hard.

We’re back from our Thanksgiving roadtrip to Indiana and Michigan! We had so much fun seeing family we usually only see once a year. It’s such a special time that we all make the effort to get together for the holiday, no matter the craziness and cranky kids and some sleeping inconveniences.

Today has been a lazy day for us, including lots of laundry and an emergency trip to the grocery for chocolate milk and strawberries. Mom Fail. I’m alive people! Holy cannoli has it been a few weeks. Praising God today that no one has thrown up or had an ear infection or a throat that feels like battery acid was consumed. I’m ready to tackle the weekend and get my hands dirty! The signs are finished!!! I ended up doing another coat of the espresso stain for a more distressed paper look. I also attached my blueprint paper to the cardboard with mod podge, since just taping it around wasn’t keeping the paper tight in the frame. Finally I put a coat of mod podge on the top of the paper to finish it off. This project ended up costing just under $20 since I had to reprint the engineer blueprint paper, but all in all it was a cost effective project.

We’re loving our new ottoman from @amazon that arrived today! It fits the space so much better with our sectional and is a much safer option for my little ninjas. This ottoman can also double as a coffee table. Throw a tray on it and boom, you’re set to enjoy a cup of coffee and snacks. Bonus option - forget the tray, toss the book on the floor and your kids can use it as a “safe place” from the floor lava! Winning!

I washed the slipcovers on my white couch from @ikea today. I’m so impressed with how well the white slipcover comes clean! This is the 3rd time I’ve washed it so far and I think I’ve got a great system down now. I have a poll up in my stories that I’d love if y’all could vote on if you could pretty please. 😘

My next dilemma is now my coffee table is too big for this couch 🤣 ... annnd well my kids are like American Ninja Warrior trainers up in here so I’m over the head injuries at this point. I’m alive I promise. Life has been crazy adjusting to our new schedule since school has started back. On top of the usual crazy things that come with having multiple kids still dependent on me for so many things. I’ve missed this creative outlet and space for me to express myself. I appreciate you all still hanging here with me and supporting me. I hope to get back in the groove this week and get back to creating and doing!

Ok, so when I set out to get this shelf for our entryway I had no intentions of busting out my pumpkin stash. But here we are and I’m not ashamed. I love how this cute shelf with hooks from @kirklands looks on this space! I told myself I’d wait until September to start my Fall Decor transition, however I couldn’t resist.
