Potty training can seem so daunting, but to be honest, for my kids, it really wasn’t hard.
In this post, I’m sharing my thoughts and experiences. What worked for me may not work for you and that’s ok! All kids are different.

I potty trained right after my kids second birthday. 🥳I feel like it’s the golden age for potty training. They are old enough to understand the concept, and young enough to easily make changes.

Pick a day to start when you know you’ll have at least 3-4 days at home. I chose a long weekend.
I go cold turkey. I remove the diaper and put on a panty for them full time.

The first accident is the start of potty training. It teaches them cause and effect:

Here are some items that I found helpful:
1.) Toilet seat with handles - I skip using a potty and go straight to the toilet. The handles makes your child feel secure when they are up on the toilet.
2.) A foot stool - this helps them feel secure while also giving them a better position on the toilet.
3.) Potty Training Advent Calendar - They either get a sticker or a gift after each successful trip to the potty. It’s a great and fun incentive.
4.) Potty Training Books - we explored the concept of potty training by reading books. We read books before we started and also while they were on the toilet.
5.) Melissa and Doug farm stickers - this was one of my favorites and an absolute must have. Everytime my daughter sat on the toilet without making an accident, I’d give her an animal sticker which she would add to the farm. She was always eager to add baby stickers to the mommy stickers.
6.) If your little one is having a hard time with #2, try using a pinwheel or bubbles to relax them.

After 2 days we had no accidents and after 4, she was completely potty trained.

If there was one toy that I’d say has been a total favorite for Alayna, it has to be this piano toy. I love that it grows with your child’s development stages. The piano can be tilted so that your child can use it when laying down and they can kick the piano with their feet. When your child can sit you can tilt your piano up so she can sit down and use her hands to make some music. This toy has been a favorite from 4 months old and she’s 7 months old and still loving it!

Have you heard of the Elvie breast pump? It’s a hands-free, wearable wireless breast pump.

While I am pretty much mostly breastfeeding (we recently included solids in Alayna's diet.) There have been times that I've wanted/needed to pump milk.

I purchased the Elvie Double pump. (Not ready to spend that much? Then you can definitely get away with the single pump if using it in a similar situation as me. If you are exclusively pumping then I'd suggest getting the double pump.)

Now that I am 7 months postpartum, the breast pump I always choose first is my Elvie. This has been true since 3 months postpartum. I LOVE the convenience of being able to pump discreetly while doing many other things. One perk is I can have my 14 year old son sit right next to me and he's none the wiser that I'm pumping.

When I use my Elvie Pump:
👍🏻 When I'm driving. I mean, why not? It gives me extra milk. I'm getting good at multi-tasking. ;)
👍🏻 When I want to create breastmilk popsicles.
👍🏻 To stock my fridge. I like having breastmilk in the fridge/freezer just in case something unexpected comes up. Remember when I ended up in the ER with Postpartum Pre-eclampsia? I was so happy that I had been pumping and had a good fridge/freezer supply. My baby was able to go at least 8 hours without me while being fed breastmilk in a bottle.
👍🏻 While feeding Alayna on one side, I will sometimes pump the other side and she can't kick off the pump.
👍🏻 When I travel I like to have the pump with me just in case.

Baby girl and I went out for our first solo breakfast date with some of my friends and she was such a sweetheart. I’ve been apprehensive to go out on my own with her (versus with my hubby or other kids coming along) because of the whole process of baby gear that needs to follow us! Surprisingly, it wasn’t too hard and we had a blast!
P.S. I think I’ve found my new favorite jeans!!

With a baby it’s so easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of your day. Being home is just so much easier with a little one. Recently I’ve been forcing myself to go out of the house more and I’ve really been enjoying that time out.
If you too have a little baby and use that as an excuse (to yourself) to stay home and get out of the house less… then this is your reminder that a change of scenery does wonders for you and the baby too!

5 months with this little one and my heart is shining.
There truly is nothing that has given me more inner happiness than the love I feel for my children. Motherhood is magical.
(It can be challenging sometimes as motherhood is really all consuming, but within that comes magical vibrations that melt straight into your soul.)

Who is ready for Ramadan? Our Ramadan area is complete and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! I’ve decided to share it here in case there’s anything you want to purchase too before the month starts! (You still have time!)
As you know, my daughters and I really enjoy decorating our home and playroom according to different themes and this time my son had some extra smart inputs too. (He figured out how to connect the lighting to our Alexa!) I did a whole blog post on everything we have included here for your convenience. I hope you have the most wonderful blessed month ahead filled with good health, the love of family and that your prayers are answered.
