Here’s the simple, Italian braided bread we make on repeat:

🥖Herbed Italian Braided Bread

Ingredients 🧄
• 1 cup warm water (~110°F)
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 1 large egg
• 3 cups (360 g) bread flour
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 1½ tsp salt
• 1½ to 2 tsp dried Italian herb blend
(½ tsp each basil, oregano, thyme + ¼ tsp rosemary) -OR- substitute with Italian Seasoning (what I used)
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet) or bread machine Yeast

👉🏻 Optional: Brush the braid with olive oil or egg wash (1 beaten egg + splash water). Sprinkle with herbs, sea salt, or Parmesan if desired.

⏲️ Bake at 375° for 25–30 minutes until golden and hollow sounding when tapped.

🧈 Remove from oven and brush immediately with melted butter (optional, add garlic/herbs to butter if desired), this softens the crust and enhances the flavor.

❄️ Cool on a wire rack for 15–20 minutes before slicing.

✨How to fluff your faux Christmas Tree✨

Start at the trunk of the tree, working through every branch and fluffing each individual stem. I like to point the stems in the direction in which they were placed on the tree, so no two stems should be going in the same direction. Some stems should point up, some down some to the left and some to the right, this will help avoid any big gaps in your tree and give it that full look. You’ll want to be sure and fluff every branch for the best results.

✨PRO TIP: Bend the tips on your stems on each branch downward slightly for a more natural look. ✨
