Aunty Peri is a B*TCH. Let’s talk about it. Have you ever looked in the mirror and suddenly not recognized the person staring back at you? Or dealt with ten random symptoms, visited five different doctors, and still got no answers? At 45, this was me. I felt crazy—truly crazy. I was dealing with stomach issues, joint pain, debilitating migraines, heart palpitations after one drink, unpredictable periods that had always been right on schedule, and a depression so heavy it came with scary thoughts I’d never had before. Since I don’t have a thyroid—I had it removed in 2020 due to goiters—I thought my thyroid medication was off. But every test came back normal. I went to my general doctor, my endocrinologist, my neurologist, my gastroenterologist, and my OB/GYN. Not one of them ever mentioned perimenopause. Not even my OB. When I finally did, I was told I was too young—at 45. I know I look younger, but my chart says my age. So I started doing my own research. I read books, listened to podcasts, watched programs, and discovered I was 100% going through perimenopause. And here’s the truth: it is completely normal to start experiencing these symptoms as early as 35. So if you’re between 35 and 55 and feeling “off,” it’s not all in your head. It’s very real. Today, I treat my symptoms holistically and naturally. I take supplements, lift weights, walk regularly, take my sleep seriously, barely drink alcohol, and focus on protein, fiber, and healthy fats. These changes have done wonders for me. I’ve also compiled everything I use, take, and read.

Visited the H&M Showroom in NYC for a sneak peek at their A/W 2025 and H&M Studio collections and I was definitely into A LOT of it.

Like I mentioned in my last “fitting room” reel, I’m navigating my new peri body and what sizes work for me. I prefer an “oversized” look and fit with my clothes so I’ve been sizing up 1-2 sizes and trying on different silhouettes. Lucky for me, “oversized” is in and a lot of clothes are naturally cut bigger.

For H&M sizing and this type of fit, I’m 5’8” and wearing size 6 or 8 for bottoms and size medium tops.

Transitioning to fall digs and patiently awaiting jacket weather. While I love summer, nothing beats fall in New York. Cool breeze, crisp air, no more humid hair or sticky skin. Soon the leaves will turn and I’ll finally get to wear one of my five thousand jackets, coats, and blazers. Okay, maybe not five thousand, but definitely too many for my new one-bedroom uptown. Until then, long sleeves will have to do.

Oh the subtle difference between a bare face and one with over a dozen different beauty products to make you look…natural. While I appreciate a completely clean face, a gentle beat is nice too. This is my everyday look, that I definitely don’t put on every day. Instead I save it for a night out with friends, a self-tape, or a date night. And even then, this routine is me doing the most. Because there are days where a swipe of mascara, a gloss and a little blush are perfect too. But on the rare occasion when I’m feeling really bold I…basically do this exact same thing but add a cat eye or a red lip. Wild, I know.

Whenever someone finds out my age, the next question is always: ‘What’s your skincare routine?!’ The truth is, it’s constantly evolving. I love experimenting with different products, and my Gen Z sister is always reminding me to keep it ‘clean,’ so I try to stick to that too. I didn’t get really serious about skincare until my 30s, but now, in my 40s, it’s a non-negotiable.

If I had to name the top secret to great skin, it’s hydration. I aim for at least 90 oz of water a day, sometimes more if it’s hot or I’m extra active. The next factor is genetics (which we can’t control), so let’s focus on what we can—your routine.
