Happy Hispanic/Latino/e Heritage Month! Did you know why it runs from September 15th to October 15th? It marks the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries—including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. It’s a month to honor our culture, our history, and our contributions. As an Afro-Latina of Dominican ancestry, I’m so proud to celebrate my heritage and people. We’re a beautiful mix of African, Indigenous, and European cultures, and that blend is what makes us unique. I’ve learned over the years that being Afro-Latina isn’t about fitting into one box—it’s about embracing ALL of who I am. This month and every month, I’m celebrating all the vibrancy, resilience, and pride that comes with being part of this incredible community. Drop your flag in the comments!
