Having worked for Supergoop! for three years and having a front row seat to the making of several of their products, I do know a thing or two about SPF and what’s good and “bad” for you when it comes to your skin and the sun. Recently, there’s been lots of chatter about sunscreen. Always do your own research and beware of fear based marketing tactics! Sometimes influencers ring the alarm bells and scare their followers without being fully educated on what they’re talking about in regards to ingredients. Remember, fear sells. But don’t just brush off the fact that the sun is the 1 cause of aging and skin cancer! ☀️UV is a KNOWN class 1 carcinogen. ☀️It’s not smart to only rely on “safe sun hours”. Wrinkles, sun spots and skin cancer don’t follow those same “safe timelines”. ☀️It only takes 20 minutes of sunlight a day to get your daily dose of vitamin C. ☀️Wearing no sunscreen at all while playing out in the sun is worse than wearing a cheap drug store SPF with the no-no chemicals. ☀️The sun is the 1 cause of aging. You’re canceling out your expensive skincare by not wearing any SPF. Not to mention, if you’re using a retinol or BHAs/AHAs, etc your face is much more sensitive to the sun. ☀️Clean chemical formulas are 100% safe. Chemical active ingredients are what make the formulas lightweight and breathable. ☀️Use mineral sunscreens if your skin is sensitive. Just know that mineral formulas are usually thicker due to the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. But one is not “better” than the other. With all that being said, to each their own.
