1. Scrub tile with soapy water & vinegar 2. Prime tile with Stix waterborne bonding primer & let dry. 2. Paint top coat (I used cheap sample paint from Home Depot, color “Smokey white” 2 layers! let dry. 3. Tape down stencil (I used 16x16) 4. Lightly brush second paint color onto stencil (very light, blotting motion is key) Another Home Depot sample in “adobe sand”. 5. Let dry and move stencil to next section. 6. Touch up if needed! I did not use any top coat since everything felt very durable. 6 months later and no scratches, peeling or any issues. Mantle veneer: wood from Home Depot sanded and stained in “early America”.
