Here’s a quick and easy swap to make to help keep your kids pencil box organized.

Usually at the end of the year when my child’s school supplies get sent back they are all over the box and the cardboard box that holds the crayons has long been discarded. I had a friend introduce me to this amazing crayon box and I’ll never look back! We found ours for $0.75/each.

Organize My Home with Me: DAY 3

One of the places that seem to get missed when organizing is the fridge. I have a lot to say on this subject but today we’re just sticking to our kids zone.

We have a side by side fridge so I wanted to maximize the space by using one of our available side door shelves. So, I decided to use these two organizers to help contain their individual snacks and allow them to have easy grab n go access.

A playroom should be a space for your kids to play, learn, and be creative. It shouldn’t be stuffy, so decorated that your child feels like they can’t play, or full of things your child feels like they could “ruin.”

One of my go-tos for decorating & organizing kids spaces is to add floating bookshelves. It’s a great way to have books be accessible to your kids, it fills up wall space without looking messy (because it’s contained), and it adds some pops of color!

Day 9 of Simple Spring Cleaning: Fridge/freezer

These two areas are two of the most likely to be neglected spaces in your kitchen simply because it’s easy to throw things in there and forget about them. Spills can happen and easily get missed, food can be opened without being sealed, and things upon things can get piled up.

Today, our spring cleaning challenge is to get those areas cleaned up in time for fresh fruits / veggies, frozen treated, and grab n go meals.

Five fridge Organization tips from a pro:

1. Adjust shelving to suit your personal inventory. Refrigerated items come in a variety of sizes, so while you won’t need to adjust them every week, it would be helpful to take a step back and evaluate the spacing of your fridge’s shelves every so often.

2. Place the items you know want to reach for first (the fresh produce) or needs to go the quickest in a visible and easy to reach area. This is usually whatever shelf is at eye level for you. If you struggle with having your food go bad before you can get to it, consider creating an “eat first bin” for items that will be expiring soon.

3. Use lazy Susan’s for condiments on the top shelf. Instead of having to reach around and possibly knock some jars over to find what you’re looking for, add a l turntable (or two) for those extra condiments that don’t fit in your side door: ie. Sour cream, hummus, salsa, etc.

4. Invest in the right decanting bins. Storing berries can and should look different than how you would store celery. Do the research on the best way to store each produce item, and invest in some good bins that have freshness in mind - like these:

5. Don’t forget the deli meat drawer - this is typically a large, shallow drawer that can get messy easily. Use drawer dividers or shallow bins to categorize. For example: deli meat, cheeses, uncooked meats, etc.

I love to keep my home decor fairly neutral adding in pops of color with each season.

Shelf decor is easy to switch out as well as seasonal throw pillows and throw blankets to add warmth and color to your home.

Pro tip- if you have kids, a washable rug goes a long way!

I do have a few tips to make doing laundry more enjoyable - scratch that- maybe just...a little easier.

1. Turn your clothes right side in (is that the opposite of inside out?) before putting it in your hamper. Try to teach your kids to do this as well, or if they're too little, make sure you do it before putting it in the washer. It will help your folding time go by quicker!

2. Get one of these cookie jars for a quick reach in for detergent pods, dryer balls, and even scent beads! It's one of those "spark joy" things for me!

3. File fold. I know I know, but hear me out. If you are file folding, maybe your kids won't be throwing different shirts out of their drawers to find the one they're looking for!?
Just maybe? Think about it. It might be nice to have less laundry to do!

4. Get your kids involved! My kids are still on the young side for this but - why not have a folding party once a week? Put on a movie, bring out those clean laundry hampers and get your fold on!

5. Good detergent makes all the difference!
We have been loving our detergent from @thelaundress! It smells HEAVENLY, and it was developed by dry cleaners who really know their clothes.
