We just did two of these @plankandbeamfurniture queen beds in the hydrangea room, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the grandmillennial charm they bring to this space. Plus, they're incredibly sturdy, which is a non-negotiable in a guest room where I want people to feel comfortable. Nothing delicate here — just two classic beds that can stand up to friends, family, and way too many little kids (literally) jumping on the bed.

I’ve always been smitten with the nostalgia of a Jenny lind bed, and my mom had actually just gotten a new bed for my parents’ room at their cottage nearby. She asked me if I’d ever heard of Plank+Beam — I hadn’t — but she went for it. And she raved about the bed. By some stroke of luck in the universe, Plank+Beam reached out to me about a collaboration just a month or so later, and I immediately said yes.

Two beds in a room have that sense of summer cottage charm. But two Jenny lind-style beds? I simply cannot. It’s perhaps the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

I had always dreamt of a room with two turned wood Jenny Lind beds, and these off-white solid wood @plankandbeamfurniture beds are the cutest addition to the hydrangea room. I’d tried for too long to find two matching vintage beds, and getting these new was the way to go. Funny enough, before @plankandbeamfurniture reached out about a content collab, my mom had actually bought this same bed in pecan stain for their bedroom. She’d already raved about how sturdy and well made it is, so this was a no-brainer.

The two queen beds make this the most nostalgic little hideaway. Find me up here just hanging out 🩵

Finding my 8 year old trusty Madewell jeans on Poshmark!

Not sure I’ve ever had more requests for details on an item than this @arteitalicacrownlinen cape I wore in stories yesterday. Which cracks me up because over a decade ago, I wore a cape to party in New York (a hip party in Tribeca where, if I recall correctly, an early Instagram celeb was in attendance). My friend Steph has never let me live it down, and finds every excuse to bring up the time I wore THE CAPE.

I maintained then and still do now that capes are ~cool~, and I was right (is there a smug face emoji?).

‘Tis the season! I took advantage of the December deals at @loweshomeimprovement to get a tree for our rowhome in DC, too! I went for a 9-foot twinkling tree that has smart lighting, which meant all I had to do was stack four pieces together (no stringing lights or trying to awkwardly plug in each strand to the next). It took me all of 10 minutes to set up, so I was able to get right to the fun part: decorating ✨

I’m currently flipping through the well-worn pages of my cookbooks, scribbling down notes on a hotel notepad (one of the amenities I *always* take from a memorable stay), and finalizing recipes for my next dinner party. Which means it’s a fitting time to share a few of my favorite cookbooks to crack open when I’m hosting...

• Crabtree & Evelyn Cookbook: This is the most charming illustrated cookbook that I found in a Little Free Library a few years ago. It’s out of print, from the 80s, but the menus are just as relevant today, and the book itself has the most delightful cottage-inspired vibes.

• Julia Reed’s South: I’d love to have a reputation for throwing the most spirited of parties, so it only makes sense I would come back to Julia Reed’s cookbooks again and again. The stories and the imagery are as good as the recipes — I swear I’ve looked at the pages dedicated to her Christmas party more times than I can count.

• Ina Garten Cooking for Jeffrey: Can’t you just hear Ina’s voice as you say the title, Cooking for Jeffrey? Shockingly, this is the only Barefoot Contessa cookbook I own, but it’s full of simple, delicious classics.

• The Southern Living Cookbook: I have a funny story, which I won’t tell here, but it’s reminiscent of the Father of the Bride blender scene. Regardless of my initial reaction, however, this is possibly my most-used cookbook, with over fifteen years of dog-ears across its 500 pages.

• The Southerner’s Cookbook: Y’all know I’ll take anything Garden & Gun publishes as Bible, and this cookbook is no exception. Unfortunately, it’s at the river, but that’s where it should be — if you’ve stayed at the cottage, you know I’ll flip open this cookbook and make biscuits at least one morning.

Finally settled on my word of the year, three weeks in: cultivate. It seems to encompass everything I’m hoping for in 2025… cultivating a flourishing, focused business, cultivating a home I’m happier with, cultivating a schedule with more room to breathe, and so on. And I wrote it down right at the front of my @thedaydesigner to make sure I stay aligned towards that goal.
