We planted Podocarpus along the fence line to create a natural privacy hedge, and I’m so excited to watch these fill in over the next year. One thing we’ve learned living in Florida is drainage matters SO much, so we created raised beds and mounded the soil to help keep the roots from sitting in water.
We used this same method on the other side of our house and they’ve been thriving ever since. Can’t wait to see how this space transforms 🤍

Turning our backyard into a private oasis ✨🌿 phase 2 is underway and this one is already making such a difference.
We planted Podocarpus along the fence for that lush, coastal privacy feel but if you’re in Florida, you know the soil holds so much water and these don’t love that. So we built up a raised bed with stacked stone to help with drainage (we’ve done this before and it works SO well 🙌🏼).
Little tip that makes a big difference: we laid down cardboard underneath as a weed barrier 👏🏼 it’s easy, affordable, and breaks down naturally over time.
Still need to grab a few more plants, more stones, and dirt to finish it off but I can already picture how dreamy this is going to be 🌿
