What you need for your DIY trellis: 1. Hammer Drill (we rented from HD) 2. Construction adhesive for cinderblock 3. Eye hooks, aka screw eyes 4. Anchors compatible with concrete 5. Multi-purpose 4 strand, 20 ga. galvanized wire (we used OOK) 6. Wire cutters 7. Protective eyewear for cutting wire and when drilling) safety first! •First things first, Think about the total length of your wall and how far apart you want each point to be. (each set of top holes and each set of bottom holes were 36” apart for us) •Painters tape helped us gauge the look we wanted. •Drill top and bottom holes first. (middle holes are later on) We rented a hammer drill from Home Depot and I am SO glad we did. It saved us a ton of time instead of using a masonry bit on our regular power drill. Trust me on this one. •Add cinderblock adhesive in the holes (keep in mind drying time) •Push in anchor and let it set for 24 hours (Our adhesive recommended this) •Twist eye hooks into anchors once the adhesive has set. These are also known as screw eyes. •Thread your 4 strand, 20 gauge wire through your eye hooks. ✨Don’t forget to feed the middle eye hook (where your lines cross) through before you tie off all of your wire on the top and bottom. The middle eye hook is necessary for stability and it helps to keep the shape of your trellis. •Now that you see where the middle hook lands, mark your wall and drill once you have ensured all of your middle hooks are level. Repeat the steps with your eye hooks and anchors that you did with the top and bottom holes. TIP: If you tied off all of your wire and don’t want to undo each one, you can pry open the middle eye hook and slip it over the wire when you need to twist it into the wall. •Once everything is dry and secure, you are good to go. Plant away and evenly distribute the vines on each end of the wire. I wrapped mine around the wire and it stays. What vine did we use? ✨Star of Jasmin✨ It’s a very hardy vine and is popular in AZ.
