Yo, I’m discouraged tonight. 😑 I got my hopes up thinking the @loft store near me would have a good selection of plus (like they did a month ago) and instead, I showed up and the selection was.... offensive. It triggered feelings of shame and negative body image and made me feel like crap. The employee mentioned a lot of stores were removing plus and here’s the problem with that 👉🏼 IF WE DON’T HAVE OPTIONS IN STORE HOW ARE WE NOT SUPPOSED TO FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST? A store that doesn’t offer my size at all? That’s one thing. But a store that actually makes most of their standard clothing also in plus, but makes the decision not to put it in store... that sends a STRONG underlying message to most women that something is wrong with us and we don’t deserve to be able to have the same experiences as our smaller bodied friends. My current solution? I’m not going in store anymore. Instead, I’ll order the entire selection online and continue to do my try-ons at home because it simply isn’t worth the risk of not feeling good enough. I won’t stop shopping Loft because I like the clothes and if we stop, it won’t help our problem either. What. Is. It. Going. To. Take. Honestly... I’m tired. I love you Loft, and all of the other retailers who took the plunge and extended sizing....but please. Take us seriously. We deserve to shop in store if we want. One day, I’ll be shopping with E and she’s going to ask me why a store doesn’t carry my size. What am I going to tell her? My body is too big and something’s wrong with me because of that?! Whew. Ok.
