Packing for spring break in my early/mid 30’s used to mean outfits I’d wear once (if that)… and then never reach for again.
Now, I think about it differently. If it doesn’t work at home, it doesn’t come with me.
Everything I packed here can be reworn— dressed down, layered differently, or styled into everyday life, or occasions for my life.

As a millennial mom with two girls and a full life, I didn’t completely change my style…
I made a few small shifts—over time.

Things like: choosing cleaner denim over distressed (meaning the older generations stopped asking me “did you purchase those with holes in them??” Who remembers those??  simpler accessories over statement pieces,
releasing on the chokehold joggers had over me dressing for my actual day-to-day instead of “I live on vacation” Shannon….

And slowly, everything started to feel easier.
Getting dressed became less about having more, and more about having pieces that actually work together.

This isn’t about rules or getting it “right” just what’s worked for me over the last several years….

If your closet feels full but getting dressed still feels hard, it’s usually not about needing more… it’s about needing a few better pieces (and probably a good closet purge of the pieces that don’t work for you anymore)…

When I buy for my actual day-to-day life—rather than stocking up on date night pieces or a vacation wardrobe—I end up with a closet that’s far more versatile and practical.
I still add new pieces for trips, but I always ask myself how they’ll work into my everyday life first.
