INVITE the LIGHT! In grad school, I took a psychology class that discussed the impact of color on human behavior and mood. Lighter colors, like whites and neutrals, are associated with encouragement, peace, serenity, hope and the relief of emotional upsets. Psychologists found that lighter colors create a sense of order and efficiency. Even in Eastern cultures, white is a power color in feng shui because it creates harmony... and in a home with seven children and moody tweens and teens. I need all of the peace and harmony I can salvage! When remodeling or refreshing spaces, I usually "invite the light." You can see the difference in the before and afters of our current home and the immediate shift in perception from dark to light. Paint is an inexpensive way to change the look of a room; throw blankets and performance fabrics make our gray and white furniture easy to clean. Neutrals and lights pair well with soft wood tones which also helps create balance and harmony. Questions? Have you done this? Are you considering? Afraid of light furniture? If the mother of seven with two goldens can make this work, I can assure you that you can too! http://liketk.it/39t0o #liketkit @liketoknow.it
