People always ask me what my tattoos mean. While each tattoo does have a meaning, it's more meaningful for me to have a lot of tattoos in general. When I was in my late teens, I had a lot of trouble feeling like I owned my body. The media told me to look a certain way, which I didn't until I got really sick, and then everyone told me how great I looked, but I felt awful on the inside. Tattooing my body was a way to bring ownership back to me. It was a way that I could create designs and add them to my skin to represent what I wanted my body to look like, not what others said it should look like. I don't know if anyone else feels this way about tattoos, but to me it was always incredible my empowering. .
