Hanging curtains guide:

1️⃣ Hang them HIGH
• 8–12” above the window
• Or 4–6” below the ceiling
(Go higher = taller ceilings)

2️⃣ Go WIDER than the window
• Extend rod 8–12” past frame on EACH side
(Makes windows look bigger)

3️⃣ Length matters
• Measure from rod to floor
• Kiss the floor or barely graze it
• No awkward floating curtains 😅

4️⃣ Fullness = luxury
• Panels should equal 2–2.5x the width of your window

Outdoor furniture I love!
5 design mistakes I see alllll the time (and exactly how to fix them) 👇🏼
	1.	Hanging wall art too high
If it’s over furniture, keep it 4–8 inches above the piece.
If it’s on a blank wall, aim for the center of the art at eye level (around 60”).
Bringing it down instantly makes the room feel connected and intentional.
	2.	Rug sizing that’s too small
My go-to? 9x12 whenever the space allows.
Already bought one that’s too small? Layer it over a larger jute rug. You get the surface area you need without redoing the whole room (and jute is usually budget-friendly).
	3.	Not enough layered lighting
Overhead lighting alone isn’t enough.
You need multiple lamps + accent lighting to create warmth and depth. Lighting is what makes a space feel cozy and lived-in.
	4.	Skipping window treatments
If your room feels flat… this is probably why.
Hang curtains as high and as wide as possible to create the illusion of taller ceilings and larger windows. It changes everything.
	5.	Lamps that are too small
Most lamps I see are undersized.
I love lamps that are at least 20” tall. Bigger lamps add volume and make the space feel more elevated and balanced.

Design isn’t complicated — but the details matter.

Not every design rule deserves your attention.

Trends change. Opinions shift.
But the fundamentals? They don’t.

Lighting. Layout. Layering. Editing.
The details that actually shape how a room feels.

A well-designed home isn’t accidental — it’s intentional.

Save this for your next room refresh.
Barstools I love! I always want a chair that has a back rather than a traditional stool!

How to style your spaces like a designer 🤍
It’s not about filling every surface — it’s about intentional layering, scale, and lighting.

A few designer rules I swear by:
• Add height to flat surfaces (books, lamps, framed art)
• Layer textures + materials for depth
• Use lighting everywhere — lamps included
• Florals instantly soften and finish a space
• Candles = cozy, always

These are the same principles I use whether I’m styling a bed, entryway, coffee table, or dresser — once you learn them, you can apply them anywhere ✨
