As an occupational therapist and a mother, I find fine motor and sensory toys/activities so important in our babies lives! Fine motor skills are essential for children to reach, grasp, and manipulate objects in their hands. Their fine motor skills develop as their whole body starts to move and become more stable. They also learn to do more things with their hands as their cognitive and social/emotional skills improve! The ability to use fine motor skills requires coordination, dexterity, and synchronization that young children need activities ranging from eating finger foods to playing with hand-held toys. When it comes to gifting, I try to focus my attention on purposeful gifts our kids can use that are fun but also help with their development! Here are a few of the toys I will be getting Nellie this year…from sensory toys to fine motor put it tasks that she can grow with. LTKbaby LTKGiftGuide LTKfamily
