A little hammock work this week! I’m trying to get back on multiple apparatuses to get stronger and work on flexibility. I love when we do low hammock work on Saturdays because it is way less scary than being high up in the air! I got my flat corset inversion with a little assistance and worked on being wiggly in the hammock to work towards cross back straddle. There’s not a lot I can do in hammock due to my size and ability but small building blocks are how I find my way to these moves and allow me to practice with others in my own way! I think single point could possibly make this easier but I also feel squished so I’ll find out whenever I’m on a single point next! #plussizeaerialist #plussizeaerialhoop

A clunky flow but a flow nonetheless. For my plus size hoopers how do we deal with the legs running into my stomach bc this is making me sooooo slow and non fluid. I’m not hyper mobile. I’m actually the opposite and arthritic making flexibility harder for me in general. My belly stays in the way which is fine in normal setting but in the hoop it’s driving me nuts. Any advice appreciated. Maybe I need compression on bottom to make it at least smoother to glide my legs across it??? Anyways this was the most productive flow and series of moves I’ve had in a while.

I’m currently OBSSESSEDDDD with prebiotic (fiber) sodas but I really hate artificial sweeteners including stevia and monk fruit. I picked this up a Whole Foods and YUM! The best prebiotic soda I’ve tried to date! It’s sweet and refreshing and tastes like real sugar (I think it is bc it’s from fermented pineapple). 10/10 this flavor is delightful.

It’s very difficult for me to wear protective masks besides surgical masks. And I don’t mask often, but sometimes I like to use them when I fly, go to the doctor, or am sick. I get migraines and a huge trigger is pressure around different parts of my face. I get asked a lot if I have a mask recommendation and this is the only one I found that works well for me. It’s a KN94. So it has better protection than a surgical mask, but obviously it’s not top of the line. It’s more comfortable around my ears and nose. I wouldn’t say this is a perfect seal but if you need something that doesn’t cause you physical pain on your face, you may want to give this a try.

What @bodyrokstudio is like as a plus size girlie 💪 while I don’t clearly look like your average fitness girlie I am quite strong. I’ve been doing Pilates since 2023 and am working on my Pilates instructor certification. I’m really comfortable in my practice and am trying to branch out out and try different styles of Pilates / lagree and find exercises that work my cardiovascular system a little harder. I rarely run out of breath, break a sweat, or increase my heart rate in traditional Pilates which I’ve loved but now that I’m getting strong I want my VO2 max to increase a bit too! @bodyroknashville is more of a challenging workout for me since it’s faster paced and more cardio focused! It’s more of a blend of fitness styles and it’s done on a megaformer which I have surprisingly liked. It feels sturdier and is more wide than a traditional reformer and feels more secure. Generally I’m terrified to hop onto a reformer but I easily pop up onto the megaformer because it doesn’t creak like a wooden reformer does. Okay enough nerding out on technical specs (this was for my other Pilatesheads lol) -> what does this mean for plus size girlies? I recommend getting comfortable with some level of cardio fitness and/or Pilates or lagree before going to bodyrok. Could you do this with zero exercise knowledge? Obviously it’s a guided class. I think the biggest thing is bigger bodies need more springs when doing certain exercises. Unless you know this you will struggle on planks, pikes, standing moves, and bridging. I’m 3x the weight of a normal student and usually need 3x the springs to do the moves. Even regular Pilates teachers don’t adjust this unless I tell them I need more support. So, just be aware you need more springs on some of the moves in any type of reformer class! This has been an awesome addition to my current rotation and I can’t wait to increase my cardio tolerance!

So soft and cozy! Surprisingly good quality for an amazon find if I do say so myself. I share occasionally from Amazon because it’s so hard to find true extended sizes up to a 5/6x ❤️

Gondolas are quite large boats tbh. Me, my brother, my sister, and my mother all sat in the same gondola together and there were no issues. You need to be physically able to get into and out of a boat but there’s plenty of strong Italian men helping you out with this so!!! We saw people of all ages and abilities getting into the gondola with no problem. Gondola has a mandated set price of 80/90€ or 120€ at night (Italian law) so it’s pricey but split between 4 it wasn’t bad. All licensed gondoliers must wear striped shorts / sweaters (it’s their uniform) so don’t accept a ride if they’re not in their uniform. Many gondoliers own their own boats, are generationally employed this way, and you have to be Venetian to be a gondolier (no other people are allowed this job, just locals). You don’t have to take the first gondola you encounter, it’s your ride so don’t get stuck with a dude who isn’t about his job. Our guide was super friendly, informed us all about his job, his boat, and his city, and was fine with me filming him in the background. Would I do this again? No, it’s expensive and a tourist trap. But it was worth it because my family wanted to do it and tbh the main waterway was beautiful. Let me know any questions you have about riding in a gondola if you’re plus size below ⬇️

Kayaking while plus size can be hard only because it’s hard to find the right gear that fits your body. I’ve linked a few kayaks to have at least a 300 pound capacity one goes up to 375. And life fest that go up to a 3X. Happy paddling!
