Today is my birthday (Kate!), and I wanted to share the most special gift!! This beautiful hutch!š If you know me, you know how much I love antiques and the hunt to find that perfect piece! Wellā¦this girl has taken several years to locate, but a few weeks ago my mom and I were antiquing at @cityviewantiquemall and there she was!! Over my lifetime I have collected or been gifted beautiful pieces of china, Mississippi pottery like @peters_potterywbi and @mccartysonly, silver and copper trays, heirloom dishes, and I have always wanted to display them. You seeā¦each piece has a special story and so much history. Layering the formal and the casual adds this beautiful but approachable style to our breakfast room. It was a very intimidating labor of love to decorate such a large piece of furniture, but it was also wonderful layering in all the memories. Here are my tips: *Start with your patterns like repeating plates from a China pattern. Lay multiple plates like a dinner and a salad plate in front of each other. If you donāt have a plate rail, add a clear push pin or add a brass bar rail. *Add some big pieces like platters or maybe small paintings. *Next layer more sculptural items like pitchers, vases, or maybe figurines *Smaller figurines or pieces like a few stacked cups and saucers can sit on a small stack of books. *Donāt go for perfect symmetry because it can feel too formal. *Lastly, if you need texture, add a small lamp or a potted plant that either climbs or drapes. Like, follow, and save this post for when you are decorating your hutch or shelves LTKHome LTKdayinmylife LTKWedding
