Series three of our primary bedroom makeover & this one is all about lighting as design.

I found these bronze cast iron sconces from @decorsteals & instantly knew they were meant to live on either side of our bed. They bring that old world charm, collected cottage elegance, & a softness that makes the room feel finished without feeling heavy. And the best part… they are battery operated with a remote, which means no hard wiring, no wall damage, & no hesitation to design boldly.

This room has been such a slow layering of intention. First the antique farmhouse mantel. Then the moody floral wallpaper. And now these sconces that glow like they have always belonged here.

This is how you transform a builder grade bedroom into something that feels romantic, timeless, & deeply personal. One thoughtful choice at a time.

One of the fastest ways to take a builder grade kitchen from flat to full of character is lighting. In our kitchen and breakfast nook, I looked for pendants with classic silhouettes, proper scale, and finishes that feel timeworn rather than trendy. These pieces anchor the space, soften hard lines, and add that layered cottage character I always design around. The right lighting doesn’t just brighten a room, it shapes how the entire space feels and functions. Pendants like these from @antiquefarmhouse were the foundation before anything else came in.

Our first project reveal of 2026 starts here friend!

Our master bedroom accent wall was designed to set the tone for the entire space. Layered, moody, & timeless. We used a vintage inspired peel & stick wallpaper from @tempaper_designs & the process was far simpler than most people expect.

The key is taking your time with the first panel. After that, finding the same part of the pattern each time makes alignment quick & seamless. Peel & stick also allows for easy adjustments, which makes it ideal for DIY accent walls & bedroom transformations.

Finished with a squeegee to smooth air bubbles & a clean trim along the edges, this wall completely changed how the room feels.

Proof that thoughtful details can turn a builder grade bedroom into a space that feels intentional & refined.
