This is why the second outfit is better for petites:

- The oversized T-shirt in the first outfit swallows my whole body and overwhelms my frame. The T-shirt in the second outfit actually defines my waist. If you’re petite, it’s best to choose one clothing piece to be a bit baggier and pair it with something more fitted. In this outfit, the jeans are a relaxed fit, so the tighter shirt creates a more proportionate look.

- Just because you’re petite doesn’t mean you need to avoid relaxed or wide-leg jeans. However, most wide-leg jeans are designed for women 5’4” and over. If you’re 4’11” like me, look for styles made for extra petites or styles labeled as cropped. Cropped jeans will often fit as full-length on you. In the second outfit, I’m wearing relaxed-fit jeans designed for women 5 feet and under, so I didn’t have to get them hemmed.

- Shoes and accessories matter too. In the first outfit, the oversized black bag overwhelms my frame and makes me look shorter. In the second outfit, I styled it with a smaller black bag. If the outfit were fully fitted, an oversized bag could work better. But when you’re extra petite, you don’t want your accessories overwhelming your frame. The goal is to elongate your proportions, not make them look more compact.

Testing if aritzia pants are 4’11 girl friendly in flats (part 2). This time I’m trying out barrel and balloon style pants. I’m wearing a 2xs or 00 in all pants, regular lengths (except the sweatpants are in the short length)

Imagine barrel pants are a relaxed mid rise chino pant with a barrel leg and drawcord waist. They’re an ankle pant, which makes them the perfect full length pant for anyone under 5 feet. The inseam is 26.5” and they’re made out of 98% cotton and 2% elastane. I’m wearing a size 2XS. They come in light birch and a tan colour.

The Mirador air plush cotton barrel pants are a relaxed mid rise pant with a barrel leg, elastic drawcord waistband and front slash pockets. They’re made from 100% organic cotton and the inseam is 26”. They come in white and black.

The story pants are a low rise cargo pant with a classic fit, made from midnight chino fabric. The inseam is 29” which is too long for me when I’m wearing flats, however, are the perfect length when paired with 3.5” heels. They come in a khaki green and tan colour.

The night drive barrel pants are a mid rise pant with a relaxed fit and drawcord waist. They’re made from 100% cotton and have front patch pockets. The inseam is 29.5” which makes them a bit too long for me even in heels, however, if you’re taller than 4’11 they might work better for you. These have a more oversized feel to them, even in my size they were a bit relaxed on the waist for my preferences. These come in tan, khaki green, and storm grey.

The strobe cargo pants are a low rise pant with an oversized fit, cargo pockets, and a cinch able drawcord hem. They’re made from 100% cotton and have a 28.5” inseam. With flats they were a bit too long, however not terrible, and they work great with heels. They come in light birch, khaki green, and vintage black.

For reference I am 4’11 with a 23” waist

Effortless Pants (Short) These pants have a tailored yet relaxed fit with a high waist. They feature front knife pleats, an easy drape, and a long, wide leg. The Crepette fabric is my favourite from Aritzia because it doesn’t wrinkle. They have a zip fly with a hook-and-bar closure, back welt pockets, and front slash pockets.

Agency Pants (Short) These pants offer a tailored look with a classic fit. They’re high-rise with a flat front and darted back for shaping, plus an elastic waistband at the back for comfort. They feature slash pockets and a zip fly with a hook-and-bar closure. The leg is more structured compared to the Effortless Pant, and they’re the re essential with a softly structured stretch fabric made from recycled polyester and lenzing ecovero viscose. This is made with 50% less carbon emissions compared to generic viscose.

Limitless Pants (Short) These are high-rise, wide-leg pants with a flat front and a minimalist, classic fit. They have an elastic waistband, back welt pockets, front slash pockets, and a zip fly with a hook-and-bar closure. They’re made from Crepette fabric, so they won’t wrinkle.

Lodge Pants (Short) These are high-rise, pull-on pants with a tie waist and a relaxed, wide-leg fit. Made from wrinkle-resistant Crepette fabric, they feature inseam pockets and a drawcord waistband. They’re especially flattering and effortless, and would fit best on someone 5’1” and up without needing heels.

Artisan Pant These are mid-rise, pull-on pants with a relaxed fit and a drawcord waistband that can be tied into bows at the sides. Made from Crepette fabric, they have the widest leg of all the styles. If you’re taller than 5’1”, you likely won’t need heels with these.

The Lodge, Agency, and Artisan pants fit me best when I wear heels, but all of them are too long on me without heels. If I had to choose my favourites, it would be those three.

Testing if Aritzia wool blend coats are petite-friendly!

The only coat is single breasted, tailored, structured coat that’s perfect for petites. A lot of people compare it to the slouch coat which is double breasted and more casual and oversized. The only coat is better for petite proportions.

The stedman coat is more tailored and structured than the only coat, but it’s also less warm. This is a great option for petites.

The Emilie coat is great for petites because it has a tie waist which helps add definition to the waist. This helps petites look elongated because bulky coats swallow a petite frame.

The cocoon coat has a funnel neck which isn’t the best style for petites because it makes the neckline look shorter. Petites should go for pieces that help elongate their bodies, and this neckline has the opposite effect.

The constant coat is similar to the stedman coat except it’s longer and double breasted. The length is great for petites because it helps to create a vertical line, but the coat is a bit big. Overall I think it’s a good option for petites, but the stedman coat has a more fitted feel.

The Connor coat is a cross between the Emile coat and the cocoon coat because it has a tie waist and a funnel neck. This coat looked nice but I still prefer to stay away from funnel necks to help elongate my body.

The Super Snug Puff is the best winter coat I’ve found for petites. Its slim, hourglass fit keeps it from overwhelming a smaller frame, and it’s warm down to –40°C.

The wool-and-cashmere coat is a staple in my wardrobe. It’s an elevated option for days when you want to look a bit dressier than a puffer, and the sleeves aren’t too oversized on me.

The Little Cropped Jacket is a great basic and pairs perfectly with high-waisted pants or a satin skirt.

I only get my sweatpants from Aritzia because they offer a short option and the quality actually lasts. You can mix and match them with any of their sweatshirts.

The Contour Bodysuit is my go-to top. I can pair it with dressy pants, jeans, or even sweatpants, and the sleek material means I don’t need to wear a bra.

The button-up vest is such a cute top to style with black dressy pants or a satin skirt.

I’m so picky with hats because not every style works on my small head, but this Aritzia hat is the only winter hat I own. It’s soft, flattering, and genuinely cute.

The dress is fully lined. The sleeves are a little too long on me, but I love how petite-friendly the length of the dress is.

The third dress is a twisted maxi dress made from a soft and stretchy body contouring fabric. It’s a slip on style dress, with sheer mesh detailing and a crewneck neckline. It has a twisted detailing at the front and the dress is fully lined. This is the perfect dress for petites. This dress also comes in a burgundy colour.

The last dress is a satin maxi slip dress made from flowy, silky satin. It has a fitted silhouette and a cowl low back. The dress comes in 3 other colours. This dress is too long on me and a bit too oversized but I think if you’re a little taller than me, this could be the perfect fit.
