The reveal!! Gave our 1984 kitchen a glow-up in 2019, and have been saving up for four years to give her a complete facelift!! Kitchen renos are expensive, it was a fun challenge to get creative to work within our budget (spoiler alert we went over) to get the look I wanted. I am proud of the DIY elements I took on and am so happy with how it turned out!! Planning a big old blog post to break it all down soon!

Previously this room had no overhead light. I rewired this pendant to be a plug in and hung it up. Adding this oversized, overhead light really changed the look and feel of the space.

I rounded up a few other large lights that really make a statement.

Here is what my “budget” kitchen makeover cost. I think it’s a great reference point for other folks who have no idea where to start with budget.

I tried to implement quite a few cost saving measures. I used Ikea and SemiHandmade cabinets, Quartz countertops, did demo, paint and built the hood myself. I did go over the budget I had in mind, but thrilled with the function and look of the new space.

When you keep adding kids, but not more rooms, the need to do double duty is real. I love all the @tuftandneedle products I’ve used in my bedroom, so I was super excited to try one of their awesome Mint mattresses along with their cozy bedding in my nursery/guest room. At least when our guests get to share a room with the baby they are super comfy. And a white noise machine is a must in a shared room.

You guys, I did it! Another @oneroomchallenge in the books! Now to prep my reveal blog post because I totally blew by week 5. I really cannot believe I pulled it off! With a 1 year old on the move, virtual school and work that actually pay, I’ve been putting in some late nights and some really, really early mornings to transform this bathroom! I cannot wait to share! For now here’s a little sneak and me with one of my extremely hard working power tools, my nail gun! Big shout out to the miter saw too!

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is “do you still have more rooms to work on?” Yes is the answer. As far as full rooms go, I just have 3 bathrooms left, plus 1 million smaller projects swirling in my head. After I finish the deck, the big projects will be on hold for a while. I hope to take on one of the bathrooms later this year, but the plan is to enjoy the rest of the summer relatively project free. Meanwhile here’s a photo of the first of our 4 bathrooms I transformed earlier this year.
