In the 1800s, women’s bathing suits were made of heavy wool, covered the body from neck to ankle, had long sleeves, and even weighed down the hems to keep them submerged. Can you imagine swimming in that - especially if you were in your 70s? Eat your heart out, society! I know you think I should be right there in that wool suit, drowning... but thank god swimsuits have evolved! I’m free to wear this one-piece (or two-piece!) with all my age spots, crepey, loose skin, and I’m loving it. Could you survive a weighted, wool bathing suit at 70+?
