When I was thinking through the design of my kitchen cabinets, I knew I wanted my dishes in the lower cabinets instead of the uppers. I was tired of lifting a heavy stack of plates above my head to put them away or straining to take them down. I asked the custom cabinet maker we were working with to get a peg board insert for the two lower drawers with many wooden pegs, so I could adjust my dish configuration as needed. Incase you’re wondering, the wooden pegs keep the plates and bowls from hitting one another as the drawer opens and closes. 5 years later, I have no regrets on this kitchen design choice. Sharing all the birthday party decor details, including the Sonic the hedgehog photo backdrop I setup for my niece’s 10th birthday. I spray painted 3 foam rings yellow to look like Sonic coins & hung them above my kitchen island using fishing line, so they looked like they were floating. Creating “Camp Green” - Reel 1: Camp Bulletin Board The first thing my niece’s & nephew saw when they came in the house was the camp bulletin board decked out with cream, blue, & green plaid wrapping paper for the background, our Camp Green logo print out (based on Parent Trap’s Camp Walden logo) with a mini felt bunting I made from felt & twine, along with cabin assignments & camp itinerary flyers, and a place at the bottom of the board to pin a instax picture I took of them in their camp uniforms. I used the cutest wooden top thumbtacks to hold everything in place. . . . . . . . My coffee table book on Italy & this Amalfi Coast tee that recently arrived on my doorstep has me wanting to bring some of that vibe into the house for the upcoming summer season. This scalloped edged salmon & white striped table cloth with blue trim was exactly what I needed! It reminds me of the classic stripe umbrellas at the beach clubs in my book.
