I’ve been doing a little back-to-school breakfast for the kids on their first day of school for as long as I can remember. I keep it really simple… I want it to feel fun and festive without creating a ton of extra work for me.

Most of these decorations are things I’ve had for years. The garland, the pennant banners, the little back-to-school signs… I just reuse them every August. I actually stopped doing the balloons because, let’s be honest, blowing up balloons the night before school is just not happening anymore. 😂 These little banners give the same festive feel with way less effort.

I have a stash of back-to-school paper plates, napkins, and a few cute extras that I can pull out year after year. Everything stays in one storage bin, so when the first day rolls around, I just grab it, set everything out, and it looks like I totally have my life together… even though I definitely don’t.

Simple, easy, and a tradition the kids still get excited about every single year.
