Sometimes you pick up a top at a store and not sure if you will like it but you decide to throw it in your suitcase anyway. Then you put it on and in that moment you know it was the perfect piece you never knew you needed. On the last day of January I’m evaluating progress on my new year resolutions. How’s you do? I didn’t make it in some areas but I’m not beating myself up for it. I read somewhere that it’s better to reframe your progress (or lack thereof) this month as a baseline. Now my goal is to improve on what I was able to do this month and inch my way closer to my goal. It was perfect timing after finishing a book I started reading on vacation written by a friend and fellow blogger I admire @christenbensten. Five years ago when I was thinking about starting my own blog I approached christen for advice on how to get started. She graciously offered me some tips and and advice from her own experience as a home decor blogger.

Last year Christen self-published her first novel — an introspective and brave memoir about a difficult childhood and her subsequent battle with depression. It takes a lot of courage to become the change we want to be and through her novel @authorchristenbensten does just that. Put her book on your reading list 📚
