What’s an item in your closet that you’re still reaching for a decade later? Wearing tank in size S, sweater in size S, jeans in size 25L, belt in size 70, coat is old Mansur Gavriel, shoes in size EU40. Ring is Beem Studio & Karen Walker For me, it’s these Charlotte Olympia kitty flats, that I coveted for *months* before finally biting the bullet, placing a phone order three months ahead of a trip which included a stopover in London so I could save on the taxes and duties 🤭 I wore that original pair 600+ times; despite their slightly off beat character, they became something of a staple for me. So much so that my husband eventually bought me a second pair to replace the (then falling apart) original ones 😸 What’s interesting is that these became something of a trend piece at the time as Alexa Chung wore them two (?) weeks after they landed on the NAP website, and they were almost impossible to get your hands on. Despite this, for me they were an item that I saw as synonymous with my own style and tastes - which is why even a decade on I still adore them just as much. Which is basically to say, don’t let whether something is on-trend (or not) dictate how often or whether you are still wearing something. Wear the skinny jeans. These are the three pairs of boots I have on rotation every winter. I’m not going to tell you that any of these styles are essential. While I think *some* sort of boot is a must for those that live in colder climates, what this looks like for you will depend on your lifestyle, taste, comfort etc. Though, if you’re wanting to maximize versatility, the things to look out for are… #1 | a silhouette that is both work appropriate but also feels approachable enough that you’re happy to wear them on your days off #2 | a versatile colour; neutrals generally give you the most bag for your buck, and that doesn’t mean it has to be a “classic” black boot 👀 #3 | comfort… if they have a heel, could you be stood in them for hours without reprieve?
