Going on a sourdough starter making journey? Join me and make a sourdough starter from scratch! You just need the items linked and a few ingredients from the store:

Mix 1 cup bread flour with 1/2 cup room temperature filtered or spring water. Mix it in a jar using a wooden spoon until it is the consistency of thick cake or muffin batter. Mark on your jar what level the starter is at and put your starter in a warm spot on your counter or pantry with a loose lid. 🥰

I made sourdough discard waffles and they were so good! Here’s how to make them:

1/2 cup sourdough discard
1 cup milk
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp fine sea salt
Cooking spray

Mix discard, milk, butter, egg, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl until well combined. Spray waffle maker with cooking spray and add about 1 1/2- 2 tbsp of batter into a mini waffle iron (depending on size). Cook 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Top with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar and enjoy!
