This has been my favorite read of the summer. Everyone who suggested it to me highly recommended the audiobook, and I couldn’t agree more — this book is LONG (the audio itself is 28 hours), and the audio is SO well done and really adds an extra layer of charm and personal connection to the characters and story. It’s set in Oxford, Mississippi during the Great Depression and towards the end of Prohibition. There are so many different characters, and towards the end of the book I was LOL-ing at some of their quirks and quips. I started this book because we received SO many recommendations from our followers, all saying that the audio is a MUST for the way it brings the women in the story to life. So many people told me that the characters’ personalities are so relatable and multi-faceted that when the book ends, you’ll actually miss them — and I can confirm that happened to me.
