The Petal Twist 🌸

This is a great hack for when you realize you don’t have a hair tie. Will it survive a workout class? Probably not, but it’s perfect for those moments when you’re in a pinch!

Gather your hair into a ponytail and hold it with one hand. Use your other hand to create a small opening just above and slightly to the side of the ponytail, then flip the tail through. Repeat the same exact process on the other side.

No hair tie? No problem!

Don’t love the look of a hair tie? Try this hack using a Topsy Tail!

This has been one of my favorite fool-proof ways to hide a hair tie for years. No bobby pins required.

Secure your hair into a ponytail. Slide the pointed end of the Topsy Tail under the elastic. Take a small section of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic to conceal it, leaving a few inches out. Tuck the ends into the loop of the Topsy Tail and pull through the center opening.

If you struggle with a French twist, try this!

Start with your hair in a ponytail. Gently loosen the hair tie and twist upward. Fold the ponytail down and tuck it behind the twist. Secure with a hair pin by anchoring it on the outside of the twist, then flip and glide it across your scalp.

Start with your hair in a ponytail. Lift the ponytail straight up and place a feather claw clip over the hair tie. Split the ponytail into two sections above your head and cross them, then bring both sections down. Twist each section toward the clip a couple of times and tuck the ends underneath to secure. Gently pull and fluff the top pieces to create that soft, feathered shape.

Craving more volume in your bun? Hide a scrunchie in it 💁‍♀️

Start by pulling your hair into a ponytail and securing it with an oversized scrunchie. Split the ponytail horizontally, lifting the top half up and pulling the bottom half down. Wrap a stretchy hair tie around the scrunchie to lock it in place. Gently pinch and pull until the scrunchie disappears and everything looks full and fluffy. Tuck in loose ends, or leave them out depending on your mood.

Two similar style buns, but the left one uses all my hair and the right uses a faux hair scrunchie! This is a great hack if you crave volume but lack the density.

Broccoli Bun:

Big on volume, rich in texture, and serving absolutely zero nutritional value.

Gather your hair into a ponytail and secure it with a stretchy hair tie. Split the ponytail horizontally into two equal sections. Hold the top section up and push up on the bottom half to create a baby bun. Wrap a hair tie around both sections to secure. Fan the hair out as needed. Then, take small pieces from the loose ends, twist them, and tuck each one back into the hair tie. Keep twisting and tucking until all the ends are wrapped up.

Your hair said, “cruciferous, but cute.”

Faux Bun:

Gather your hair into a ponytail. Split the ponytail into two horizontal sections and hold them apart with one hand. Slip the faux hair messy bun over both sections, then gently pull the top and bottom apart to fluff it out and add volume. Hello, main character bun! 💁‍♀️
