Yes I’m posting about this book again because it’s soooo good. It really makes you think about the things you are taught and accept as normal and how to love everyone but combat lies. 10/10. Almost done round two!

I’ve taken most of the week to reflect on the horrors that have ensued this week, and I’ve come out with the resolve that we need to be doing better as parents. We need to be better equipping our children to handle hardship. We need to empower them to know truth, THE truth, and to stand firm defending the truth. We need to show up better as parents and show our children how to respond to our modern culture and what the Bible says about it. We need to teach our children how to debate- how to ask questions, and to disagree respectfully and with kindness. We need to teach our children how to have decent conversations, to love our neighbor, and to never waver, even when on the receiving end of a bully.

The retaliation is equipping.
Here’s a few books that have majorly impacted me as a parent. I also included one for kids that encourages them to search out Scriptures for themselves, not to just take it from us.

We began reading through the Bible this week and this chronological Bible has been so great! Now I have one less thigh to think about flipping around to different references, and includes a great summary, questions, and more. Highly recommend already!

Almost through The Anxious Generation and it is a must read for everybody- parents or not! Lots of insight on phones and our children, the importance of unsupervised play, and encouraging our children to do hard and important things as a way to build confidence.

Our next book club book is Gay Girl, Good God by Jackie Hill Perry. A fascinating memoir of a gay woman who was convicted in her lifestyle because of God’s love and grace and goodness. I’m excited to jump into this one! If you want in, send me a DM. We start July 15.

Great deal on the Smart Stepmom! This book is a must read for those who are anticipating being in a blended family, in one yourself, or have loved ones who are. I highly recommend reading before you take the leap! Knowledge is power in a very complicated and difficult dynamic, especially when kids are involved. Regardless of it’s the result of a divorce or death, it is so helpful!
