Project Equest

By peggyhaddadinteriors

Last month we photographed #ProjectEquestrianTraditional with @margaretrajic and @stylewithbrit, and after years of this project in the making, weeks of prep, and travel days for everyone involved, we spent 9 full hours doing what we love: perfecting every shot, fluffing every pillow, moving flowers one inch at a time, and capturing the story of this home.

It is such a privilege to work with talented creatives who not only see the beauty in a space, but know how to bring out the feeling of it. Margaret and Brit made the day so much fun, and truly helped capture the layers, warmth, history, and personality woven throughout this home.

Each room has its own little moment…

A dramatic entry.
A layered kitchen.
A European-inspired sunroom.
A colorful dining room.
A moody powder bath.
And equestrian details woven through the whole home.

More soon — and it is a good one!!

#ProjectEquestrianTraditional (also called #projecteclectictraditional on the blog) is a home rooted in family history, ranching and equestrian life, heirloom pieces, and rooms designed for real everyday living.

We brought in color, wallpaper, pattern, upholstery, lighting, and layered details to make the home feel fresh without losing its soul.

Here’s a little preview from our photoshoot with @margaretrajic and @stylewithbrit! Saving the full story for this one—stay tuned.
A little preview of a project we recently photographed and are excited to share soon. 📸 #projecteclectictraditional #projectequestriantraditional

This dining room is a reminder that formal spaces should feel special—but never so precious that they’re off-limits. The goal was to create a room that felt polished and memorable while still welcoming everyday gatherings around the table.

We layered green grasscloth wallpaper, crisp wainscoting, blue drapery, a pink patterned rug, and a touch of equestrian charm to bring personality and color to the space. One of my favorite details was giving the client’s heirloom dining table and chairs new life through refinishing, paint, and fresh upholstery.

The result is classic, colorful, deeply personal, and designed to be enjoyed. More of this home coming soon.

This is your reminder that traditional does not have to mean boring.

For this equestrian-inspired traditional home, we wanted the entry to set the tone from the moment you walk in: colorful, layered, collected, and full of personality.

The dramatic curved staircase stayed. The beautiful railing stayed. The family heirlooms stayed.

We simply gave everything a better conversation to be part of—with bold wallpaper, fresh paint, a herringbone stair runner, and a palette of peach, blue, green, and classic brass accents.

This colorful traditional dining room from Project Eclectic Traditional feels layered and elegant but not the least bit stuffy. We wanted a space where family dinners felt special, but also where spills weren’t a total disaster (thank you, performance fabric and cleanable rugs!). The result is timeless, textural, and a little unexpected.
A formal dining room should feel special, but never so precious that no one actually wants to use it. For this family, we wanted to create a colorful traditional dining room that honored the home’s classic architecture and the client’s heirloom pieces, while giving the space a fresh, lively perspective.

The green grasscloth wallpaper set the tone immediately: textural, rich, and beautifully grounding. From there, we layered in crisp wainscoting, tailored blue curtains, a pink patterned rug, and just enough equestrian charm to give the room personality without feeling themed. We refinished the client’s heirloom dining table, painted and reupholstered the chairs, and brought in layers of color and pattern to make the whole room feel collected, polished, and personal.

The equestrian details add a subtle sense of heritage and character, which felt especially fitting for a traditional dining room. The key was keeping those references restrained. A little equestrian influence can bring warmth, history, and a Ralph-Lauren-adjacent richness to a room—but too much can start to feel too themed.

The result is a formal dining room that still feels warm and welcoming, a space made for holiday dinners, birthday candles, after-school chaos, and all the good stuff that happens around a table.

Powder bathrooms may be small, but they are some of the best rooms in the house for taking a design risk. You are not committing to wallpapering an entire living room or painting your whole kitchen green—although, for the record, we support both when done well. A powder room gives you the chance to create one highly memorable, personality-filled moment.
For Project Eclectic Traditional, also known as Project Equestrian Traditional, we treated this powder bathroom like a tiny jewel box. The goal was to pull together the rich, colorful palette used throughout the home and create a space that felt bold, classic, and a little unexpected.

This eclectic traditional powder bathroom featuring bold wallpaper centers around William Morris’s iconic Strawberry Thief wallpaper, layered with deep burgundy, earthy green, warm brass, and crisp marble-style flooring. The result is a moody, colorful powder room that feels old-world and fresh at the same time.

This colorful traditional entryway sets the tone for the whole home—this space had all the right bones: a dramatic curved staircase, intricate railing, beautiful French doors, and meaningful family pieces. What it needed was life, color, and a sense of personality to match the rest of the home. For this equestrian-inspired traditional home, we wanted to create an entry that felt personal and pulled together, but not overly formal. It’s the kind of space that says “come on in” without trying too hard.
For Project Eclectic Traditional or also called Project Equestrian Traditional, we transformed a dated entry into a colorful traditional entryway filled with pattern and personality by layering bold wallpaper, fresh paint, a tailored stair runner, and heirloom furnishings that already meant something to the family. The goal wasn’t to erase the traditional character of the home—it was to wake it up.

The new palette of peach, blue, green, gold, and deep brown feels classic but not quiet. The staircase now feels intentional and polished, the heirloom secretary and artwork have room to shine, and each corner of the entry has its own collected moment. It’s traditional with a little wink—which, frankly, is my favorite kind of traditional.
