A little black dress that’s doing the work for me. 🖤

This Target A New Day smocked mini A-line dress is petite approved and such an easy piece for transitioning from summer into fall. The smocked bodice gives it a little shape, it has POCKETS (always a win), and the mini length works especially well on my 5’0 frame.

I added a Chanel-inspired jacket for a little structure, my pointy-toe Mark Fisher booties to help elongate the legs, and my Kate Spade taupe bag to keep the look from feeling too dark.

Teasing 101 ✨ Fine-Hair Volume Tutorial

If your hair falls flat after teasing, the technique matters.

For this look, I used:

* A rat-tail comb for controlled teasing
* Color Wow Texas Hold’Em hairspray to lock in the tease
* A little time to let it set
* More hairspray to finish and hold everything in place

The key is controlled teasing instead of randomly backcombing the hair, then smoothing the surface once the volume is set.

Okay, this one is GOOD. I’m 5’0” and wearing my usual size 2. It runs true to size, has pockets, and the fit is feminine without feeling overly dressy.

The black makes this one especially versatile—you could keep it simple with sandals now or add a cardigan and different shoes later for that easy transitional/fake-fall look.

Target bootcut denim first impression 🤍

I’m 5’0” and tried these Universal Thread high-rise bootcut jeans in my usual size 2. They fit really well through the waist and hips and have a nice, classic silhouette.

Petite note: these can absolutely be worn with sneakers, but I personally prefer them with a little heel because it gives the leg a longer, more streamlined look.

I also really like that they feel more versatile for everyday wear than a wide-leg jean.

These are definitely worth a look if you’re petite and want a classic bootcut without immediately committing to a super high heel. 🤍

Target denim first impression 🤍

I’m 5’0” and tried these Universal Thread high-rise wide-leg jeans in my usual size 2. The fit through the waist and hips is really good, and I LOVE the structured denim and wide-leg shape.

The petite caveat: they don’t need to be hemmed on me, but I do need a heel. With a flat, they’re too long for my proportions, but with the right heel, the length works.

So if you’re petite, that’s something I’d keep in mind before ordering. They also come in Short if you want to try that route.

I’m still deciding if I’d keep them, but for $28, I think they’re worth a look if you’re wanting a wide-leg jean. 🤍
