Always try the foundation shade first. Know your undertone to cut to the chase. But not all foundations are the same, even if the shade number is the same. I like NARS Light Reflecting foundation because it’s buildable, and though this one says “neutral” undertone, it’s actually slightly warmer which is perfect for me. Not matte, goes on very smoothly.
