First peel and dice apples to get 2 cups. We used honey crisp apples. Cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Then add 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt, 2 cups flour, and 1 cup sour cream. Once all combined fold in the diced apples. Divide batter into 2 – 9” pie pans and top with crumble topping. To make topping combine ½ cup pecans or walnuts (optional), 2 TBS. melted butter, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 tsp. cinnamon. The best part about this recipe is you can bake right away or cover the pans with tin foil and freeze! Baking instructions are the same: bake uncovered at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean! We like to make these in bulk and freeze!
