It’s 5:00pm on the first Friday of January. 🙌🏻 I mentioned in my stories the other day that I have been making some mocktails and you all wanted me to share. These are perfect for mamas-to-be, non drinkers, or my dry January peeps. This mocktail would also be amazing with alcohol, so feel free to add a shot if your heart desires 😜

So here is my favorite so far:
🌿Smashing Sage Spritzer 🌿
Benefits: Hydrating, Relieves Nausea
Flavors: Natural sweetness and savory tones
.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Fresh or Frozen Blackberries
1 Tbsp Lime Juice
1 Tsp Honey
1/3 Cup Coconut Water
1 Cup Seltzer
4 Sage Leaves
*optional: shot of gin or vodka
Garnish: blackberries and Sage leaves
.
Instructions:
In a shaker, muddle blackberries, Sage, and Honey. Add Lime juice and coconut water to shaker. Fill shaker with ice, and shake. Divide between two glasses filled with ice. Top with seltzer. Stir, and garnish. Enjoy 🖤

It’s my birthday week! 🎉 I can’t believe it has already been another year. This year was filled with a mix of new adventures and unique circumstances. Between surviving a pandemic and learning how to virtual teach, a lot of good things have come from this past year: I got my amazing new job as an instructional coach in my school district and my husband and I sold our townhouse and bought our dream Midcentury home.

I have grown so much as an individual and I feel thankful for the experiences this year has given me. My husband and I have also grown closer than ever amid being stuck at home, and I am reminded every day how much I love him and care for him. He makes each day more positive and always helps me be the best person that I can be.

As the year comes to an end, do your best to reflect on the positives that have come from the extra time at home, virtual setting we have all been thrown in to, and the love for family and relationships that is stronger than ever.

I missed my year anniversary of blogging because I was taking a mental break from it all, but I wanted to touch on how much of a fun journey this has been. A lot of people thought the idea of me starting a blog was dumb, but I continued to press on because I knew it was a good way to express my interests and hobbies. I am having so much fun with it and I have met some amazing women that I call friends. This is a hobby, my release, something I am passionate about. Do I plan on it making a living for me, no. I love my job, but I think it is important to also explore other passions and hobbies. If you could give advice to your younger self, what would you say? 🖤

I would tell my younger self to “Go for it and take the risk”. No matter what it may be. I feel like in my early twenties I was so concerned with the unknown and never took risks. My husband is actually the person who helped me take risks and now I’m never looking back. I am so thankful for him continuing to push us forward as a couple and in life. If it was not for him we would not be where we are now. He pushed me to work in an amazing school district, he helped me through taking the risk of buying our first house, and now we were able to make the decision together to buy our dream home. Taking risks is the only way to progress in your life. If you stay where you are, you never have the opportunity to exceed. So if you are reading this and have a risk you are waiting to take because it’s scary, it’s 2020, or you are worried about it my advice for you is to JUST GO FOR IT!

This is a question I find tough to answer. I feel that I put work, daily to do lists, and others in the forefront of my mind and I rarely reflect on how I am personally doing. I think that I feel most in tune with myself when I am in a quiete space, away from any device, and listening to calm music. I find that I can only be in tune with myself when I am anxiety free and have the ability to slow down. I challenge you to think about this question and reflect on how you can make this connection stronger for your well being. This can help lead us to understanding inner peace and tranquility 🖤
