wish I could just keep hangin’ with the 🍷wine barrels, ya know? . so… my Instagram says I’m still in Italy 🇮🇹but *SURPRISE*, I’m back home. . That’s right. I’m the one @Drake was rapping about. You’re welcome. 😎 . While I still have a bit more to share here from our travels (I hope you’ve been enjoying my stories!) I’m in the home office trying to get adjusted back. . AND WOW IT’S HARD. 👷🏻‍♀️ . Here’s how I’m trying to get back to normal: . 1⃣ WORKING OUT. Landing back to Columbus from Italy means gaining 6 hours (and you know I’m a HUGE fan of extra time!!!) but it can be really difficult to make the most of it when your body is exhausted. One of the things that helps a lot is getting a workout in as soon as you get to a new time zone. It’s just good to get the body moving instead of letting it be tired. A body in motion… . 2⃣ SLEEP AT THE RIGHT TIME. No matter how tired I get, I refuse to stay up late or go to bed too early when I’m trying to adjust to a new time zone. When you’re gaining time, it’s awesome to optimize a little and get your body used to waking up at an optimal time (say like 5 or 6am), but it will still take quite a bit of willpower to get out of bed. Jet lag is real. . 3⃣ VACATION-FROM-VACATION DAYS. I always know that the longer the trip, the more recovery time I’m going to need when I get home. In this case, I tacked on two days plus a weekend to be able to focus on getting my body and mind back into routine before I forced myself to go back to work or do anything that required careful thought. I spent the time unpacking, doing laundry (I’ve been air drying everything like in Italy OMG it smells so much better!), and tidying up around the house so my space felt as ready as I was to get back at it when it came time. . 4⃣ MORNING ROUTINE ALWAYS. I was so excited to get back to my morning routine because that’s the thing that balances me like nothing else! Being home to implement it felt amazing: morning pages, lemon water, goal writing and re-writing, reading @dailystoic, writing for ShineSquad, walking Lucy and getting a workout in. It’s my daily game changer. . Q: WHAT DO YOU DO TO GET BACK TO “NORMAL” AFTER A TRIP/VACATION? Leave a comment below! . http://liketk.it/2DnmF liketkit @liketoknow.it
