Couple of weeks ago I decided to meet up with someone I have not seen after separation from my ex. That meeting caused me pain I didn’t expect and totally forgot how it feels. Honestly, it is not something I usually talk about here. But there should be some space for real talk.
I came to talk to someone I have not seen for so long to catch up and laugh. Instead I heard “poor you”, “it must be hard”, “you must be exhausted”. It hurt like hell to be subject of pity talk. I go over the edge to make sure people do not think single woman life is hard. Yes it is hard. But it is not.
It is easier than seeing your spouse cheating, drinking and disrespecting you in front of the crowd. It is easier than trying to explain your feelings to someone who acts like a wall. It is easier than being a sad example for your child.

Separation from my ex was the best decision that I made since I’ve been in the USA. I see divorce as my growing point. Point where I learned choosing me and learned to be brave. I learned happiness where people see hard times. I chose freedom and I chose my health. That is exactly what I tell my daughter “happiness is a choice, being brave is a choice. And it is only your choice”. If you see a single mom don’t assume she was left. Because 99% of the time being single mom was her own choice!
