The kitchen was clean so I decided to snap a pic to share and Dexter really wanted to be featured, but didn’t feel like smiling 😑😂 in other news, while I was cleaning, I discovered that the sticky plastic wrap was still on the KitchenAid label on the range. 9 months later. Guess we need to do a better job of deep cleaning 🤨😂

Let’s talk open shelf styling! At this point, open shelving is not a new concept, but a lot of people are still resistant to it. I’ll be honest, I was one of the skeptics back in the day! “Everything will just get dusty!” Guess what…. Turns out, if you style them with things you USE, it doesn’t get too dusty 😉 We store everyday dishes, cookbooks, wine glasses, and smaller dip/ice cream bowls up there, and I love the openness that the shelving creates.

Hosting a dinner party tomorrow night and the kitchen is ready 🌲 and it’s our 6th anniversary on Sunday! We don’t have big plans for that… remember when I was thinking about going to Hawaii? Yeah that didn’t happen 😅 Honestly our plans probably include working on the main floor bathroom and then maybe dinner out (or delivered)! Considering we’ve been renovating our homes for 5.75 of the 6 years we’ve been married, how else would you think we’d spend our anniversary? 😂

Help me decide on counter stools! Here’s the story: I ordered the 3 stools (we’ll call them option A) in the first pic back in March and JUST got them. I knew we’d need a stand-in and ended up finding 2 on FB Marketplace (second pic- option B)… and I kind of love them 😆 they’re actually all from @potterybarn, but I paid significantly less for the Marketplace stools! If I decided to go with those, I’d buy one more. Or if I decide to keep the original choice, then I can resell them.

Let’s do a pros and cons list:
PROS: both are comfortable and black, which I wanted. I like the shape of both. I like the faux leather feature and brass nail heads of option B. I like the height of option A.

CONS: are there any? The cost is about the same if I buy one more of option B. I feel like I can’t go wrong either way. Help me decide!!! And shop both (and everything else in the pics) below!

Hosted a fantasy football draft party last night and it was a great excuse to clean the house and get some fresh greenery 🌿 This kitchen is about 98% complete- I will officially “reveal” it and share allllll of the details as soon as I can, I promise! It was so fun having friends over, standing around the island and dishing up food and doing all of the things I had envisioned would be happening way back last fall when we started planning for the remodel! We have a long ways to go with the renovation but it’s great to be able to enjoy it in the meantime. #simasixtiessplit

Happy Friday!!! Here’s another (#currentview) angle of our main floor: living room to kitchen view! Eventually you’ll see finished railings, ceiling beams, a backsplash, trim, and other finishing touches but for now just swipe right to see the before and try and figure out how we turned it into this view 😉 Its coming up on one year since we first saw this house. When we walked it, we immediately knew we had to lose the walls between the kitchen and living/dining rooms, but the vault idea came later (and the credit for that goes to Josh!). So glad we were able to make it happen!!! Also, peep the pets and the things on the stove/counter 😁#reallife

Anyone else having the type of summer where you feel like you can hardly keep your head above water? Between work, social events and getaways, and this renovation I feel like we hardly have any free time and it doesn’t look like that will change even through the fall 😵‍💫 I’m thankful to have a job and an active social life but I’d love to just lay on the couch for a day or three 🤣🤣🤣 not sure when we’ll get to this backsplash or other finishing details on the main floor but I’m doing my best to be ok with that!
