I have loved these Rejuvenation semi-flush and pendant lights for YEARS and I finally just came across a dupe on Overstock! Would be perfect for an entryway, laundry room, office, bedroom…!!!

The overstock version comes in brass or black with a white shade, while the Rejuvenation version is brass or black and has multiple shade options.

PSA: get yourselves a cocktail table 👏 use it for everything from coffee to wine, your phone, even the TV remote! Cocktail tables are usually under 10” and are designed to be moved anywhere that is convenient. I realized we needed one when we were watching TV on the sectional and I kept having to put my feet down or almost fall off the couch to lean over and reach my drink (usually tea or wine 😉) on the ottoman tray! So I ordered this (in stock!) bad boy and set it up on Friday night. Josh’s initial reaction: “this thing is SWEET!” Five stars would recommend.

Our porch renovation officially finished up over the weekend with the addition of trim around the french doors and a faceplate over the light switch 😂 why is the last 5% is always the hardest!? This space is our favorite in the house (I mean, our kitchen and living room are close seconds!) and it is cozy and inviting year round, at any time of the day. It didn’t need much to make it feel fresh- we replaced the ceiling fan with a sleek, modern one, replaced the old carpet with slate tile, tore out the dusty shades and added cozy drapes, and of course some installed new furniture. Making the room feel updated without painting the paneling was a design challenge and I was up for it! I leaned into the “modern cabin” vibe by sourcing lots of plaid patterns, a cool vintage rug, a super comfy sofa, and a variety of wood tones in the furniture. The result is a unique, relaxed, comfortable yet interesting space that draws you in and makes you want to stay for an extra cup of coffee or glass of wine! Now we just have to cheer on Benji the ficus tree to keep surviving and growing new leaves after his mealy bug illness😂 I am going to work on the blog post over the next few days so let me know if you have any questions about our porch below!

The kitchen was clean so I decided to snap a pic to share and Dexter really wanted to be featured, but didn’t feel like smiling 😑😂 in other news, while I was cleaning, I discovered that the sticky plastic wrap was still on the KitchenAid label on the range. 9 months later. Guess we need to do a better job of deep cleaning 🤨😂

Let’s talk open shelf styling! At this point, open shelving is not a new concept, but a lot of people are still resistant to it. I’ll be honest, I was one of the skeptics back in the day! “Everything will just get dusty!” Guess what…. Turns out, if you style them with things you USE, it doesn’t get too dusty 😉 We store everyday dishes, cookbooks, wine glasses, and smaller dip/ice cream bowls up there, and I love the openness that the shelving creates.

Hosting a dinner party tomorrow night and the kitchen is ready 🌲 and it’s our 6th anniversary on Sunday! We don’t have big plans for that… remember when I was thinking about going to Hawaii? Yeah that didn’t happen 😅 Honestly our plans probably include working on the main floor bathroom and then maybe dinner out (or delivered)! Considering we’ve been renovating our homes for 5.75 of the 6 years we’ve been married, how else would you think we’d spend our anniversary? 😂

Let’s talk asymmetrical windows! Do you have a wall like this in your home? The key to solving the “off-center” issue is all about creating BALANCE. I still centered the bed on the wall, but added height to both sides of the room with a curtain panel on the left and a 5’ picture ledge on the right with a variety of sizes of prints. Then I added tall matching lamps (which I have no problem admitting that they were $8 each at Goodwill and just got a little a spray paint glow up 😉) to our nightstands. Now, your eye is drawn to the picture ledge (or the curtain panel, or the rug, or the lamps)... or just about anything other than that window! If you have a similar window and haven’t figured out what to do with it, here’s one idea 😉 if you have solved the issue in other ways, I’d love to know! 👇

It’s week 8 of the #BHGORC and while other people are revealing their projects today, I’m sharing this unstaged photo of our patio to distract you from the fact that we’re not done yet 😂🙈 It’s my birthday today so I had a couple of my BFFs over last night for happy hour and this snap from “golden hour” makes my heart happy. Wine and snacks on the table, chairs and pillows out of place, and the perfect sunset. The whole point of making beautiful spaces is LIVING in them and I love that we have this patio to enjoy with friends and family!

As for the basement remodel, carpet is going in tomorrow, so tonight after work I’m going to help install the builtin cabinets... happy birthday to me 😂🙌 Josh asked what I wanted for a present and I told him a DQ cake and a finished basement 😆 funny how priorities change as you age! #thisis31

My “office” for the day 😏 #outdoorliving I just started my 9 day stretch off form the hospital and I’m excited to get stuff DONE... basement progress, client projects, blog posts, and exterior touch ups (I still have to finish painting some trim and caulking the windows). People ask “how do you do everything and still work full time?” and the answer is I am so l thankful that I get to work 12 hour shifts so I can have stretches off like this! I’m giving a tour of the basement progress in my stories as soon as this post goes up so go and watch!!
