Trying to design a room for college-age girls is oddly hard because everything online feels either teen bedroom… or dorm room.

And neither really felt right for girls who are 19 and 21 and still come home to their room.

We built this house four years ago and never touched this space, so I wanted to finally make it feel more grown up for them now — but also timeless enough that down the road it could easily transition into a guest room or work for future buyers too depending on how it’s styled.

I feel like this ended up being that perfect middle ground.

We wanted a TV outside that could stay out year-round, but we didn’t love any of the typical options.

Instead of mounting one to the house or building a large feature wall, we installed a post, added a weatherproof locking case and used a regular TV.

It ended up being one of our favorite patio upgrades because it gives us the function we wanted without taking away from the look of the space.

Sometimes the best home projects are the ones that solve a problem without making a bigger one.

Furniture shopping lately just feels like a gamble.

There are SO many options now, which sounds great, until you realize every single thing has mixed reviews and half the time you have no idea what’s actually going to look and feel good in real life.

We bought this affordable king bed from Amazon over a year ago after looking at so many different options and it ended up being one of those purchases I’m genuinely happy we made.

Whenever I find something for our house that actually lives up to the hype, I always want to share it because I know I can’t be the only one trying to figure out what’s actually good anymore.

I’ve tried a lot of flowers in outdoor pots over the years, and these are the two I keep rebuying.

Rio Dipladenias stay full, bloom nonstop, and somehow still look good at the end of summer instead of getting thin and scraggly halfway through July.

And ferns honestly make every planter look better. They instantly make pots feel lush and layered and they’re super low maintenance.

Both of these are usually easy to find @homedepot and they’ve become my go-to combo for summer planters that actually last.

We tried the whiskey barrel setup first and it just wasn’t sturdy enough for the size of our yard.

The posts would shift, the barrels didn’t hold up… and we didn’t want lights just around the patio anyway.

We wanted something that would go across the whole yard and actually stay up year round.

So we ended up doing actual posts and haven’t had to touch them since.

They’re on a timer, come on every night, and have held up through winter, storms… everything.

I can’t do heels like I used to, but I’m also not getting rid of them. That feels aggressive.

Nothing fancy — just works.

The easiest holiday hack: spray paint your décor.

I found these lotus pods on clearance, gave them a coat of Vintage Gold by @rustoleum (the best Christmas gold), let them dry, and added them right into my tree.

It works on old ornaments, branches, stems — anything you want to refresh or match your holiday palette.

When my oldest left for college, I realized something fast:
