Today I’m switching things up a bit.

I’m sharing with you my home office. Since we moved last fall this room has been coming about slower than all the other rooms. What can I say, mom problems.

Just as I do with my clothes, I used majority of the things I already had in my old office in NJ.

However this room didn’t have built ins and made storage challenging. I fell in love with these white and gold bookshelves which have a ton of storage!

I’ve added new agate bookends, a new mirror, new window treatments and some small accessories.

A beautiful spaces encourages creativity and calm. Don’t you agree?

A case for tucking it in.

The proof is in the photograph. The side where the shirt is untucked looks messy and sloppy.
The side where the shirt is tucked in looks instantly pulled together, even in the simplest outfit in everyone’s wardrobe- jeans a a white button up shirt.

Who do you send mirror selfies to when you have an important event coming up?

I had a fab opportunity to met my peloton boo Cody Rigsby, and of course the first thought?
“What am I going to wear?”
This red dress had just arrived in the mail, so naturally I quickly threw it on, snapped a quick pic and dashed it off to my friend who lives in a different state.

Her question? “What is the material?”
My answer: “cotton”
Her reply: “I’d never wear a cotton dress to this event”

Now, if I wasn’t a professional stylist, that may have hurt my feelings. It may have anyone else second guessing their choice.
But this is why when it comes to your personal style other people’s opinions are none of your business!

Cotton is actually now a luxury fiber! It’s hard to find things that are 100% cotton and a good quality. Cotton lends itself well to your gauze beach cover up, a beautiful sundress, your breathable bedsheets as well as tailored suits.

Something pictures cannot tell you is the touch, feel and quality of the garment.

That’s why the number 1 mistake I think women are making when it comes to their style is asking opinions of others.

Whether it’s your mom, sis, bestie or thst Facebook moms group- they don’t have your body, your budget and your personality. This is why women need to learn for themselves about what works well for their body, skin, lifestyle and personality.

It’s beginning to look a lot like the festive season! In our house we are kicking it off with Diwali this weekend and then onto Thanksgiving and Christmas!

When we were kids, we would get new clothes for Diwali. One set of Indian clothes and one non-traditional outfit! Now I don’t have many occasions for Indian clothes so I stick with what I wear a lot.

I’m continuing the tradition by throwing on this NEW happy sweater today!

It’s a soft grey with tonal stripes, but the stripes are raised and they have tiny sequins embroidered.

This season denim dresses are gaining popularity and for a great reason! It’s a great fall staple and can be worn many different ways.
Right now they are available in a variety of denim weights, lengths and washes. These are 3 things to keep in mind when wearing a denim dress.

The weight of the fabric will affect the fit of the dress. Heavier denim is stiffer and will not necessarily soften too much over time.
The straighter silhouette such as this shirt dress lends itself better for fall and winter.
A shirt dress is versatile as you can also wear it as a third layer over a tank/tee and jeans.
Denim production is very water heavy so always ONLY buy what you need and truly LOVE so you can be a good steward of the planet.

I had a massive knot in my stomach this morning.

Google maps was rerouting me, once again after I made a wrong turn in St.Paul. But I’m used to that, that’s not what the knot in my stomach was.

This morning I actually realized I had not been to an in-person networking, large scale event in 4 years! So meeting new people, in a new city, new state felt a little scary even to me this morning!

Well the nerves explain the 3 outfit changes this morning! Which is very unlike me.

Finally I settled on this trusty color combo-basic yes but elevated with pops of color in the sandals, an animal print belt and statement accessories finish the look.

When you are already feeling worried or unsettled about being somewhere, that’s not the time to first try a new style, outfit or trend.

What should you do instead ?

❤️Stick to tried and trusted color combinations that work for you.
❤️Wear shoes you’ve broken into already. Being on your feet and having blisters is not going to be fun!
❤️If wearing jeans choose ones that have be worn in & stretched out.
❤️Avoid fabrics that feel itchy- lace, sequins etc if you are not used to it.
❤️choose accessories that elevate and add interest to your total look.
