I absolutely LOVE this asymmetrical neckline cropped bomber I got last year from @thefrankieshop.

I got my sunglasses from @eleganteyesinc, a Black family owned biz that has the coolest curation of frames—they’re based in NJ but do virtual fittings where they send you a selection of frames to try out based on your face shape and lifestyle. You buy the ones that you love and send back the rest.

I actually almost never wear workout tanks (I hate for my skin to touch things when I’m working out lol) but pulled this one out that my trainer @_yaziedee bought me a while back from @fabletics. I need to get more now 🤣

@elfcosmetics Liquid Blush in Bronze Bombshell. I have every brighter shade of e.l.f. Liquid Blush and they look AMAZING on deeper skin tones. You might need to touch-up midday, but for $7, I don’t mind at all.

@elfcosmetics Glow Reviver Lip Oil in Honey Talks. There’s no way I was paying $40 for lip oil. Aside from the $8 e.l.f. dupe being slightly less shiny, I personally felt no reason to opt for the $40 version.

@elfcosmetics Power Grip Primer. This is one of my fave primers for when I want a slightly dewy look—sometimes I use the @elfcosmetics Liquid Poreless Putty Primer in my T-zone and Power Grip elsewhere. I also like the original, but I like my coins in my pocket more…lol.

@elfcosmetics Suntouchable Whoa Glow Sunscreen & Primer SPF 30 in Sunburst. There’s this notion that you have to spend $$$ on sunscreen and no you don’t. I love that @elfcosmetics comes through with the trends in sunscreen—so if you’re looking for one that has a bronzy finish that you can wear alone or under makeup—try this.

@westmorebeauty Body Coverage Perfector & Blend + Blur Body Brush gives an amazing natural finish that covers discoloration and gives the illusion of even skin. It can take a lot of time and patience to even out your body skin, so this can help in the meantime when you really want to flaunt your skin.

MORE MUST-HAVES:
2. You want a good moisturizer that contains ceramides (the addition of fatty acid oils is also great). Dry skin can eventually lead to hyperpigmentation so making sure you lock in hydration with a good moisturizer is key. You also want to exfoliate regularly—the Amlactin 12% lactic acid body lotion combines both the moisturizer and exfoliant step.

NOTE: Use this moisturizer at night or when you’re not using the Body Coverage Perfector.

3. SUNSCREEN. Sun exposure WORSENS hyperpigmentation and discoloration. I love this Neutrogena spray because it works well on top of the @westmorebeauty Body Coverage Perfector. Spray liberally and then pat it into your skin to avoid skipping any areas.

NOTE: Make sure you use an oil-free sunscreen on top when using the Body Coverage Perfector.

BE PATIENT—body skin is different from facial skin and it can take more time to see results. If you want to see more dramatic results, research a well vetted skin of color pro for treatment options.

Hydration layering products! Try this if your skin is looking dull, dry/dehydrated:

1️⃣ After cleansing while skin is still damp, apply a hydrating toner/essence/serum. Or a jelly moisturizer in the case of this video.

Note: the hydration from your freshly cleansed and still a bit damp skin also counts!

2️⃣ Immediately follow with a thicker, creamy moisturizer. You can also finish with a layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor.

📝 You can do this day (with SPF as last step) or night. I’d probably save the petroleum jelly layer for nighttime as that could get kinda messy for the day.

🍳 I have oily skin and do this routinely during the colder months because the weather makes my skin dry.

But don’t be afraid of hydration if you have oily skin—it won’t make your skin oilier. In fact, it could also help your skin feel more balanced.

👵🏾 As I age, I also do a lighter version of this during the warmer months.

The product used here is the @freshbeauty Rose Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask, but you can do this with tons of other products.
