Every now and then a new jean rolls in and quietly starts selling out. This is how all the cool trends begin, and it’s one of the really exciting things about working in fashion. Last year, I picked up the Mother Bookie jeans at Selfridges in London. Silly, really, because the price was double — but the weather was cooler than I expected, and I just wanted something to wear out for dinner with my cousins. Fast forward to this spring, when the jean landed at Nordstrom and sold out almost immediately. Now it’s back, and there are also some new versions that have just arrived, including this new twist seam. It’s a mid-rise, boot cut style, and it’s one worth trying. (For reference, I took my usual size 27.) Because it’s made of rigid denim, it isn’t super stretchy — but it does give, and once it does, you’ll never want to wash them!
