I’m still figuring out how much I want to go Nancy Meyers neutral in my home versus bring that romantic English inspired vintage charm. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I like this! Out of my comfort zone and a little brighter and a peppier than I’ve been doing lately, back to my pre-industrial/MCM-inspired black and white and then organic earthy modern phases. It’s girly and cheerful, and I love walking into it to work or snuggle the kids!

This room was perfectly fine, just a little more earth-toned than I was in the mood for this year, then I got the idea while feeling relaxed and creative in a hot tub in Scottsdale to wallpaper it, so I took it all apart and did… and now I’m stumped on the rest of it. I know I need that creative energy when things are going well to have fun designing my home, but there are so many decisions besides wallpaper, that vacation positivity hasn’t pulled me through the rest. I’ve made decisions I don’t like, been stumped and frustrated on others, and just felt like giving up and missed this old room.
Just a reminder I guess that sometimes it’s not easy to create spaces you love.

Possibly my favorite thing I’ve brought into my home recently: this woven jute rug from @rugsusa (collaboration with @laurenliess). I only use natural fiber rugs in my home these days and I love the classics, but I like things to have a little extra interest too. This one is perfect! It’s so soft under foot, too. Still planning some changes in this guest room/office but this rug will be perfect in the revamp too!! It’s also on sale right now!

Enjoy this guest room/office while you can, because I suddenly had the urge last night to completely redo it. I’m a very practical, methodical, thorough-thinking person, but I guess sometimes I snap and have whims! I’m thinking I need more playful colors, classic florals, and (gasp) less block print. (Is block print going to be dated soon??? Sacrilege, I know.)
