This bathroom deserves a shout out now that it’s basically done (for real this time). Now vs when we moved in in 2018. Blood, sweat, and tears (literally) went into the major reno in 2019 and then the wallpaper and painting the vanity were a piece of cake a couple months ago!! @sandbergwallpaper paper, linked everything else in I could in the app.

I also got some positive ones too, of course. Some nostalgia for 1950s kitchens people grew up with that also had these. I also got some practical comments that because this is near the trash, the fabric will get dirty. Yep, that makes sense. We don’t make that much trash and put food waste in the compost on the counter so I don’t think I’ll have to wash it every couple weeks or anything. I appreciate the concerns… but I guess this is part of my campaign against Internet trolls! Also to be fair, all of these negative comments were from Facebook! I’m excited to be adding some more charm to this kitchen, and these sink cabinet curtains are just step one!

Finally got this up! My laundry room wasn’t ever really finished and felt plain, and I also didn’t have a great place to hang things to dry. So cute and functional!

A basement laundry room is not the dream, but I’m pretty proud of how cute this one is! Took 2 years due to it being part of the larger basement project, and of course a divorce and becoming the only adult around here. Latest addition is the drying rack! I have been scratching my head forever to figure out what blankets/quilts to do for Otto’s bunkbed. We’ve had a couple warmer evenings where the comforter is too warm so I think I’ve got to figure it out soon. Red stripe? Dark red? Darkish blue? I have been like obsessed with my bedroom recently. Haven’t even really changed anything big (I painted the walls a year ago and have been doing minor tweaks since) but it’s feeling so good. Maybe it takes a while to get used to a new space to feel truly comfortable with it. I’m so grateful that I get to sleep here, walk-through here on a sunny afternoon, and have this beautiful place for my fun antique light fixture or whatever my new favorite bedding is. ❤️🙏

I found this vintage crystal-ey semi flush mount light scrunched up in a printer paper box at my favorite antique store and I carefully hung the strings back on, but I finally rounded up some similar ones available new, at different price points.

I’m still figuring out how much I want to go Nancy Meyers neutral in my home versus bring that romantic English inspired vintage charm. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I like this! I bought this vintage Mersman table for $30 on a rush to get to somewhere else and forgot to confirm payment method with the seller. I got there and he didn’t take any electronic methods of payment. So I drove back up the road to the KFC and got a Diet Coke and $30 cash back. It was those fancy soda machines with all the flavors you can add and I got excited and added vanilla. 🤪 So it’s my soda table. What’s your funniest Facebook pickup story?

I guess I’d rather do it myself and subject my dad or any of my friends to my rug moving whims. If you have a partner who will happily replace a rug and carefully line up with a rug pad with you, wow, hang onto that one!
Seriously though, I’m very excited for this rug from @rugsUSA, a classic braided jute rug that is super soft and all natural fiber. I see these in the old house design books, and they had so much quality and character. Worth the sweat of this change!

I am so stoked about my new rug and using this opportunity to remind you that, despite what you see on the design shows, you *always* need a rug pad! Drives me crazy they don’t show that step on installs. A rug will slip around and get damaged faster without a proper pad underneath. And it’s pretty easy to cut them to the exact right size. Plus it makes them feel more comfortable and luxurious.
