I had a lot of problems with this sink not draining and a plumber told me it was partly the soap. So I’ve tried foaming and it’s been better, but this plastic one was not cutting it. Finally found a nice glass one with a polished metal, foaming top!

I’m so grateful to live in the neighborhood I grew up in, and I walked past this house a million times before we found out we might be able to buy it and make it ours. My mom took me here once when I was a kid, some neighborhood organization thing, and I remember sitting in this breakfast nook and appreciating the built-ins.😂🤓 And now I get to store my vases and cookbooks and pretty cocktail glasses here.

(What I didn’t realize back then was that the glass doors were not original…! I’m guessing someone replaced them in the 80s and did the best they could, but I just try not to look at them too closely. Still so cute!)

Am I ridiculous for caring this much about my soap bottles? Yes. 🙈 But I think this is called self actualization… when everything else in your life is going well, you can focus on improving the little details. The timeless Nancy Meyers vibes I’m going for in here now make me feel better than the honestly Target and Magnolia knock-off stuff I bought when I was in an unhappy marriage and had a very tight budget and money anxiety. So… Design makes a difference!

I’ve been working on some updates to this kitchen I renovated in 2019–it was a plain white kitchen back then which, it turns out, is boring but a flexible backdrop for several different styles. By swapping brushed brass for polished nickel and industrial metal for traditional painted wood, and a few other styling changes, I was able to lean into the Nancy Meyers kitchen vibes we all want these days—which hopefully is timeless since we love her kitchens from the early 2000s too! Proof you can transform a kitchen with a few surface level changes!!

Finally got this up! My laundry room wasn’t ever really finished and felt plain, and I also didn’t have a great place to hang things to dry. So cute and functional!

A basement laundry room is not the dream, but I’m pretty proud of how cute this one is! Took 2 years due to it being part of the larger basement project, and of course a divorce and becoming the only adult around here. Latest addition is the drying rack! I had basically given up on finding a rug that was the right size for this room, but there are great custom options now! A rug that’s the right size, filling the room under at least the front legs of all the furniture, especially in a high-quality natural fiber like wool, makes a space feel so much more comfortable and luxurious.

Lucy’s room was already adorable but the new rug, a more functional and pink-trimmed Roman shade, and some art updates made it feel even nicer. And some additional toys and dolls made it feel more like hers. 💕

My daughter's room was really cute, but needed some upgrades upgrades for function and to make it a little more elegant. First I swapped the Roman shade for this much nicer one… and then the RUG! This made the biggest difference. I found a custom size rug from Sisal Rugs Direct because this room is so long and skinny.

It's a comfortable wool and it comes with a backing attached so it's super easy to lay down. Using a rug the right size gave us enough space for all of her stuff. I was able to clear out some things, get some toy organizers, and then do some final styling touches to make this room feel so lovely and special for her.

I’ve been working on Otto’s room for a year, but I was so stumped by the bedding! Finally found just the right things from @thecompanystore. I had real down/feather pillows when I was a kid and I didn’t realize how hard it was to find good ones now. These are so soft and nice. I love the scallop trim on the shams and quilt! And they’ve just been using those lightweight cotton blankets during the summer, so breathable and comfortable. I think boys’ rooms are hard after the toddler phase. Loving what we found!

The velvet pillows, the warm florals, the greenery, the perfect peachy walls… I love this room! Patting myself on the back. Everyone deserves to get to sleep in a bedroom they love, right?!

I have been like obsessed with my bedroom recently. Haven’t even really changed anything big (I painted the walls a year ago and have been doing minor tweaks since) but it’s feeling so good. Maybe it takes a while to get used to a new space to feel truly comfortable with it. I’m so grateful that I get to sleep here, walk-through here on a sunny afternoon, and have this beautiful place for my fun antique light fixture or whatever my new favorite bedding is. ❤️🙏

I bought this vintage Mersman table for $30 on a rush to get to somewhere else and forgot to confirm payment method with the seller. I got there and he didn’t take any electronic methods of payment. So I drove back up the road to the KFC and got a Diet Coke and $30 cash back. It was those fancy soda machines with all the flavors you can add and I got excited and added vanilla. 🤪 So it’s my soda table. What’s your funniest Facebook pickup story?

I guess I’d rather do it myself and subject my dad or any of my friends to my rug moving whims. If you have a partner who will happily replace a rug and carefully line up with a rug pad with you, wow, hang onto that one!
Seriously though, I’m very excited for this rug from @rugsUSA, a classic braided jute rug that is super soft and all natural fiber. I see these in the old house design books, and they had so much quality and character. Worth the sweat of this change!

I am so stoked about my new rug and using this opportunity to remind you that, despite what you see on the design shows, you *always* need a rug pad! Drives me crazy they don’t show that step on installs. A rug will slip around and get damaged faster without a proper pad underneath. And it’s pretty easy to cut them to the exact right size. Plus it makes them feel more comfortable and luxurious.
