It’s amazing the difference nice window window treatments make, and it’s not even that expensive to just get one great shade for a feature window. I love the cute patterns that @twopagescurtains has in this Roman shade style! My coupon code SUZANNAHSTANLEY gets you 15% off!

…when you realize you can replace those remnants of your 2019 style without redoing your bathroom

Fake rustic Target table out, beautiful dark wood turned leg table in!

This bathroom deserves a shout out now that it’s basically done (for real this time). Now vs when we moved in in 2018. Blood, sweat, and tears (literally) went into the major reno in 2019 and then the wallpaper and painting the vanity were a piece of cake a couple months ago!! @sandbergwallpaper paper, linked everything else in I could in the app.

Lucy likes to talk about babies and lately has been frequently saying, “Mom. Would it be funny if somebody had 1400 million babies? That’s so many! That eggs wouldn’t fit in the mommy’s tummy!” It’s always 1400 million. 🤷‍♀️😂 For real though, if anyone has tips on brushing and styling an almost 4-year-old‘s hair without all the screaming, I’m all ears.

Our caftans are from @petitieplume, Lucy loves matching!

Glad I swapped the mirrors out for this one. The wicker was cute, but the vintage gold is… pretty. Just doing what I can with this bathroom we renovated in all grey and white in 2019! Sources tagged and linked in LTK.

Painted this basic vanity, a color I picked up from the wallpaper and swapped the hardware with these Amazon antique brass ones!

Almost all of you voted for the plums, and I was totally in that camp too until then one day… I dunno, I changed my mind!
I powered through wallpapering this bathroom yesterday morning and it is my best wallpaper job yet! It is so fun and exciting to walk into this room and see this beautiful pattern and color. This is the Alexandra wallpaper from Sandberg Wallpaper.
I put back a couple pieces of art but I’m not sure, what do you think, I loved all the art in here but now that I have this pattern, I’m not sure if I need it. Should I put more of those vintage frames back?? Being careful with how many holes I poke. (The mirror is not back yet and I’m not finished painting the vanity, and I have a few other changes planned too.)

Excited to add some charm to this plainly remodeled historic home bathroom! Help me choose the wallpaper.

This is the last room I designed (/installed/finished) and is more representative of my current style than a lot of the other rooms in my house like the kitchen and main bathroom of 2019, but it’s in the basement and when the TV show was filming they didn’t even consider filming down here because it’s not connected to the main part of the house so the flow wouldn’t work. ☹️ Well, here it is for you again.
Antique store mirror, FB dresser, Amazon lights and towel bars, DIY pleated shades and sink skirt. Linked what I could in the @shop.ltk app!

Most nights, getting the kids ready for bed by myself is the hardest part of my day. Brushing teeth, washing hands, getting distracted, getting things out of the cabinets, all in this little bathroom, then PJs and stories and trying not to take 45 minutes with it. But last night, my last night with Otto before our trip, I tried to savor it and even let them help me pack and make some messes with the dressers.
Lucy and I have a fun weekend with family planned in CA but I’m so sad not to get to share it with Otto. (I’m sure it will be easier but still.) I’m pretty sure I haven’t flown since February 2014, and I’ve never been away from Otto this long, so clearly I need to learn to take more vacations… wish me luck this weekend and I sure hope Otto has a good one too. 😥👏

Shared the tutorial for this sink skirt on the blog today! I’ve made three sinks now, a couple different methods, and when I was making the first ones I couldn’t find many resources online for how they were actually constructed and attached. So I figured it out! This one was a little bit more complicated so I shared this method plus a few hacks to make it simpler. This is a great beginner sewing project!

The #oneroomchallenge bathroom is done! I’m very happy with it! English country inspired, with historic vibes for our 1930’s Tudor revival home, plus some of my favorite semi traditional touches like pleated sconce shades and a sink skirt. Lots of DIY tutorials and project posts coming soon cause I did most of it in the past week 😂🤦‍♀️ Check out the blog post for details and a full cost breakdown!

I’ve been buying things for our basement bathroom! It’s exciting to be creating it fully from scratch, but it won’t have a window, so I’m not sure how optimistic I should be about how beautiful or design-ey I can make it. I shared some questions I’m having about the tile in my stories last night, go vote! One thing I have already picked out is the pedestal sink. I want to do a skirted one but I also want something more historic feeling than the sort of traditional Kohler Home Depot one we did in our upstairs bathroom. I just bought one on Facebook Marketplace! I wish I had looked there for this upstairs bath reno, I found a lot of more classic ones that feel more appropriate for our house than the ones I can afford new. The goal for the basement bathroom is some thing that feels classic/a little retro like our house, not like a contractor just drywalled it in in 2022. Wish me luck.

“Every room needs at least one vintage piece”—advice I’ve heard from several designers before! I dig it. This room has vintage art, a vintage frame, and the original 1937 sconce and mirror medicine cabinet that came with the house—I don’t think early midcentury shiny chrome builder basic fixtures were what those designers had in mind, but technically these count (and I think they add character too!).
Think about the rooms in your house… do you use this rule?

I’m still hoping to wallpaper this bathroom but for now, I went for it and hung some (mostly thrifted) art that was lying around waiting for a spot. I figured if I do wallpaper, it’ll cover up the holes anyway! 😜 Seriously though, having some warmth/color/interest on that back wall has been huge! Makes me smile every time I walk in.
When we did this bathroom (#oneroomchallenge fall 2019) I carefully chose the pieces and frames above the toilet and tub… this effort was much more haphazard, but I’m playing around and being more free and flexible with my style these days!
If you have a plain/too neutral/too calculated wall in your home… how about a kind of random vintage art gallery wall?!
