Fall Decor
Last week I dropped by a friends’ house and she was apologizing for the state of her backyard. Laughing, I told her “Don’t feel bad, you should see my yard. I haven’t done a thing in it this summer!” And I truly haven’t, other than planting a handful of plants, pulling a few weeds at the start of the season when I still had energy, and setting up some impact sprinklers on automatic timers. In past years I loved standing outside at night hand watering all my plants- but we were so busy this summer, that just didn’t happen. Despite my utter and total neglect, however, I’m happy to report I do have a few survivors, thanks to my diy irrigation. If you don’t have drip and want to save some time, these sprinklers + a timer are the way to go! I think one of the reasons I spend so much time focusing on home related projects is that we all need refuge in this world, and home can be that. I’m getting ready to head to Florida next week for my daughter’s last cheer performance of the season, which means it’s time to pull out my travel stash. Being a sports mom means a LOT more travel, so I basically keep all these things packed and ready to go. When I’m designing vacation homes and VRBOs, we’re always looking for clever ways to add more sleeping space. I found these convertible sleepers for our cabin remodel project and couldn’t be happier with them! They are a 3-in-1 product; they lie flat as an ottoman (shown here), the back elevates to make them a chair, and the footboard slides out to create a twin size bed! We pushed two together here so in the chair position they make a loveseat for watching movies or playing video games. Have you ever heard of a settee? Similar to a low bench or small loveseat, a settee is a versatile piece of furniture that you should definitely consider as you build your home furnishing collection. A settee is great for a narrow hallway, entryway seating, extra seating in a living room or even a dining bench! I selected this piece for our master bedroom- it’s the perfect size for the foot of a king bed! It comes in tons of fabrics. I chose my favorite chenille slate! I also linked my bedding from Target.
