“Mix high and low” is one of the most repeated pieces of fashion advice. It’s also one of the worst. The idea of mixing designer items with fast fashion sounds good in theory but doesn’t work in practice. Well-made items have structure, quality and impeccable finish. Lower-quality ones don’t. When you combine the two, the well designed piece will only highlight how poorly made the fast fashion item is. High and low also justifies having a wardrobe full of fast fashion, as long as you have a few designer pieces to lend some kind of “aura of elegance” to your looks. And there’s a reason this advice is everywhere. Lower-priced items sell. They’re easier to justify, easier to impulse buy, and easier to monetise through affiliate links. Instead, let’s mix high and mid. A few nice designer items mixed with thrifted, preloved or just really great high quality mid tier brands. Items that can stand for themselves and will make your whole look work together. 🤍You can find the items I’m wearing in my link in bio, or just comment “link” and I will DM the links to you 🤍 If you feel overwhelmed by your wardrobe and want clarity on your personal style, do the 7 Day Wardrobe Reset - I will show you step by step how to clear out, help you understand what you actually like, identify what’s missing, and figure out what to buy next.
