After years of stomping around in lug-soled hikers or black leather shit-kickers, I’ve gone back to chic, as opposed to chunky, ankle boots. Lately, I’ve been wearing the Tods Chelsea boots in the second photo (a sale bargain, years ago). Comfortable, polished and still pleasingly smart, they temper baggy cargo pants, and look the business dressed up with straight-leg, black jeans and a velvet jacket.

The most-loved piece in my winter arsenal has to be my Heirloom jumper from Navy Grey. It's made from natural, un-dyed British wool sourced from farms in the north west of England. The Heirloom is quite pricey but designed for longevity, basically this knit is so chunky and durable it’s going to outlive me.

And it also comes in Charcoal and Carmine.
